Shut up Wilfredo.
Shut up Wilfredo.
I think the midwest has the most prestigious schools... Look at North Central, Wash U, Oshkosh, La Cross... I think traditionally those teams do the best at nationals. MIT has good individuals sometimes, and I dont think Tufts does ever... I'd look more to the SUNY schools
This is one of the stupidest threads I've ever seen. As pointless as this is, I'd like to respond to a few things...
Is that because no "NESCAC party" has ever broken out in that chant? Sounds like those must have been some really awesome parties.
idk who "primed" is and he obviously made a stupid post... but my parents are paying $50k/year so I can get a good education. It's roughly the same amount they'd be paying if I were to go to any other private school worth attending.
As far as people saying that Tufts is a "NESCAC safety school" or is the "6th best school in the Boston area" - you're entitled to your opinions, but the objective evidence (e.g. rankings, scores, admissions rates) disagrees with you. Feel free to provide actual evidence for your claims, but your unsubstantiated argument is completely useless.
Also, just a side note... debate liberal arts all you want, but Wilfredo, like me and many of my teammates (and unlike almost any other NESCAC runner), studied engineering at Tufts. He is now working successfully as an engineer, like many of our other recent graduates.
So while the liberal arts argument is pretty much irrelevant to this thread anyways, it applies less to Tufts than nearly any other school in the region other than MIT.
Correct me if I'm wrong (I just got back from driving to and from Wisconsin, so my memory may be a little off), but I'm pretty sure Jesse Faller's 8th place finish two years ago is higher than any MIT runner placed in the last few years. And Matt Rand was NE's second finisher at nationals yesterday, taking 19th.
I think you are talking more about the exception, and I am focus on the rule... if that makes sense... what I am getting at is that the midwest has the dominance factor right now... SUNY is a close 2nd... I think you'll find after a thorough google search and checking several school records, MIT is traditionally better that Tufts, and that 9th place, was the best performance in that Tufts history...

Wow. Just wow.
Oh and thanks for clarifying that it's your parents who are paying for your education. You are an entitled douchebag and it's clear.
You're also a Tufts bench warmer. Congrats for further confirming Tufts' inferiority in comparison with many schools in New England. Jumbos are all over this board while other schools couldn't care less because they don't have the same Napolean complex that so obviously plagues every Tufts runner.
So having parents who can afford to pay for my education makes me a douche bag? That's a strong argument. Not sure anything else you said is worth responding to.
You said "MIT has good individuals sometimes, and I dont think Tufts does ever". It depends on how you define good, but I was merely correcting you.
And another correction is that Tufts placed 5th in 2005. Not sure about how high the team has placed in other years.
jumbo hunters madddddddddddddd

Yes it's easy to shit on small liberal arts schools (Tufts is not one btw), but keep in mind "liberal arts" schools also have chemistry, physics, biology, compsci etc. If you haven't noticed, I've defended not only Tufts, but Amherst, MIT and Williams so far in this thread. And I've successfully dispelled every false argument you've had against them. The responses to which have just been making fun of me for posting about my school. If you're coming on this board and posting negative shit about good schools I think it's safe to assume you don't go to one.
This thread is the douchpacalypse. All you tools keep trolling this thread and leave the rest of LetsRun alone.
This is ridiculous. Us NESCAC schools need to stick together. Most hated school has to be one of those ridiculous state schools that we actually allow to compete with us.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
*gasp*
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Shut up CBar and Wilfredo. This is pathetic.
I think that the university of Wiener Town is probably the most hated institution. They always perform well at natties and have by far the strongest academics (in the wiener-studies field) in the region. Be jealous all you want, but we all know you're just sad because you couldn't get into Wiener Town.

could you please tell me how to get to Wiener Town?
Ok so from the way it looks there are some front runners.
Williams
MIT
Tufts
How does everyone rank these schools as most hated?
I think MIT comes in third. They're not really consistently great at running, just smarter than everyone else. They can get kind of snootie about being smart but most smart people do that.
Williams comes in second. Most of that hate is actually just jealousy, apparently. They're good at sports and they're generally good at school. But I know some kids on the team who are certainly not outstandingly smart.
Tufts. Based on this board, there's a clear inferiority complex going on with their athletes. Just the way they act on the board makes me think they can't be well liked individuals. They take the cake as far as those three schools go.
Any other nominations?
this thread has some gems in the midst of all the Tufts crap, I think led by the 'Williams often has 3 of the NESCAC's smartest and 4 of the dumbest' analysis. The greater leeway they get from admissions for athletes certainly adds to their case.
I feel like the opinions of letsrun trolls don't necessary correlate to opinions of real people. It also seems like there might be 1 or 2 trolls responsible for about 90% of the posts on this thread.
Some information about Tufts, for those who are too ignorant to accept its status as an elite university with an intelligent and diverse student body:
Acceptance rate for Class of 2015: 21.9%
Mean class rank: top 5%
Mid-Range for SAT (Math): 680-760
Mid-Range for SAT (Writing): 680-760
Mid-Range for SAT (Reading): 680-740
Mean ACT: 31

For those convinced that it is the 6th best college in Boston:
And for anyone who thinks Tufts is the "safety school of the NESCAC":
Obviously admissions statistics can't tell the whole story, but they are utilitarian for the sake of comparison. Our alumni population is remarkable, considering the school's size and includes leaders in every industry.
