I agree. As a coach, I've certainly been guilty of showing my nerves before big races. Was it good/bad? Who knows? I think Rojo gives one heck of an honest post here. Coaches get excited, and we want our athletes to be the best possible. The story of trick or treating isn't surprising. I'm amazed what kids will do before big races (I coach high school).
When I read Craven's letter, I did feel like it ripped a little on Jerry while simultaneously singing high praise of Mick. Painting a picture of Mick's coaching style is easier to do when it's contrasted against a more rigid system. Craven gets into trouble by proclaiming one style is more effective. Rojo is right, both systems can and have worked.
