You put the players in the best position to get that one out. Cruz still could have caught that ball but he seemed to be afraid of the wall.
In the next inning, they had the outfield back with the tying run on second. Berkman hit a single in front of the center fielder and he had no shot to throw home since he was so far back.
There were errors on both sides that led to runs.
You can point to a hundred game changing moments.
The Cardinals had one more moment in their favor.
