the women were second at wisco and only lost by 12 points. the men were 35 (aka dead last) at pre-nats by a huge margin. as far as i know they are both coached by the same guy.

Title IX = no men's track...
...which is crazy when you think about it, because Vanderbilt is in the SEC. I always find it interesting that Vanderbilt has no men's track, yet one year they were the NCAA champions in women's bowling.

Probably closest to the truth here. How many decent guys (those who could run at a DI school competitively) would go to a school with no track program? Maybe somebody who runs on the side and might be an also ran would join. Other than that folks go to school where they have a chance to compete.
