Looking for input and ideas from coaches about seperating a track meet between 2 days. The last couple of years we have put on our meet no matter how we tried scheduling events or limiting numbers in events it seemed by the end of the meet certain events dragged out and most schools were bailing. Then we were left with just a couple of competitors in last race heats or most 4x4 teams being gone. Only a couple triple jumpers showing up, etc. From what I saw it was fairly normal at meets we attended as well. I am thinking of making our meets seperated into 2 parts. An mid afternoon meet (say 2-3pm) and then a mid morning meet (starting at 9am -1pm or so). I know we would probably lose some schools who couldnt spend night or maybe they would seperate. I just think it would make for a much more productive meet for everyone. If anyone is familiar with a set up like this and has had a successful experience like this please let me know. I know some meets make it like a distance carnival type meet in the evening but I dont think we bring in enough athletes to do this. Anyways thanks.
