Best part was he considered stopping and soldiered on! Just over 8 hours according to this website.

Hats off to the guy!
He's not showing in the results yet, but according to this he's finished the race.
When you think about it, its just amazing..running a full marathon at 100..WOW!
Most of us will have pushed up daisies for a few yrs by then.
I just hope I make it past 80, yet alone 100 and being able to walk for that long.
I was wondering what happened when his splits stopped appearing, but they must have picked up the last timing mat before he went through. Don't know why the rest of his posse doesn't show the 30 or 35k split time.

Looks like a 8:11:05 for Fauja Singh. Awesome job
Gun Time Chip Time
3850 FAUJA SINGH 8:25:16.3 8:11:05.9
That is an average 18:43 pace. My money says Ed Whitlock takes at least 2 hours off this record.
Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. That's 20 years from now. Congrats to Mr. Whitlock and to Mr. Singh.

Meaning no disrespect to the amazing Mr. Ed (3:15? Seriously?), there is a completely different set of skills at work here. People who are 100 years old can't walk around the block. They absolutely can't remain on their feet for eight and a half hours. There is no chance that anyone, even Ed Whitlock, takes two hours off that record. No way, no how.
There will come a day when someone runs under 7:20 for 3K. There will come a day when a women runs 2:14:xx for the marathon. Long, long, long after that there will come a day when Fauja Singh is not the WR holder for the 100+ marathon.

Well Said!!
Agree. Wish them both well.
Our neighbor is 103, can't see and just started using a wheel chair (and even more cranky, which I didn't think was possible).
All those years of miles may take their toll on Ed's body. 20 years is a long time...
My back after 35 years of running is not good. And 50 years from now? Yikes...
I suspect a con.
If GRB doesn't let this guy participate in the torch relay it would be a tragedy, especially when considering how little time the guy could have left. I don't know how legit his age is but maybe some people familiar with him can fill us in?
90 year old from Granville, Ohio ran 7:12 in the Columbus Marathon today also.

14 minute diferential between gun and chip time.
Do we have a very old kyp lyttyn on our hands?
Ed Whitlock's problem is, he started too young. He will be burned out by the time he hits 100. We need to learn how to develop talent slowly in this country so that these standouts aren't burned out before they hit 80.

There were three wave starts: 9:00 (gun start), 9:05 and 9:10.
Singh obviously would be starting in the last wave and likely at the very back in order to given him and his accompanying crew and escorts space.
So you're basically looking at only 4 minutes to cross the start line - not an unreasonable amount for a wave with several thousand runners (half and marathon were combined start for a total of about 13,000).

Apparently there is quite a bit of skepticism about his true age.
That's about retarded. You can only have one birth certificate from one country idiot. In case you haven't take geography in JUNIOR HIGH Kenya and Ethopia are 2 different countries!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
