Inn this day of shitty marketing at USATF, might Skechers be the hidden gold mine American distance runners are looking for? Rather than being dependent on NIKE'S morsels, Skechers seems to be intent on upping the ante. Knowing that they get exclusive logo rights (see Nick Symmonds controversy), may be a greater incentive for a company like Skechers to take over USA distance running for what may be a bargain.
Will they offer irresistable dollars to current NIKE and other sponsored athletes and wrest them away from Phil Knight's evil empire? Will they bankrupt and bankroll USATF, and break up the cronyism and entreched power structure that lies within? Is Skechers the breath of fresh air this sport has needed?
Y'all might wanna start sucking up to Skechers if you want to stay involved in the sport. NIKE is going to have to pony up a LOT more cash to keep its athletes if this trend keeps on developing. Skechers is taking over and NIKE might not even know what hit them in 5 years.
