I guess you didn't bother to read my post reference... The blog posts mentions some athletic groups that having begun reserving ice baths primarily for post- HARD workouts b/c using them all the time likely nullifies the benefits.
ttc's argument is apparently that ice baths have been proven beneficial because a lot of football, baseball and college running programs utilize them. "Everyone does it, so it must be correct." Ice baths may or may not improve performance, but I don't like that line of reasoning: Teams A, B, and C use ice baths. Teams A, B, and C are successful. Therefore, ice baths contributed to the success. I'm sure others could name successful runners who have not and do not use them - I'm just guessing, but it seems likely that the guys over in Kenya and Ethiopia are not widely using them, and they've been pretty successful in recent years.
