The flattest, fastest course you will ever run, and I say that as someone from Illinois. It might be short to boot- I hear they widen the course for big meets, effectively making the tangents short.
Doesn't everybody know what the Lake Breeze course is like?
If not then, it is about 5 miles worth of the biggest hills and rockiest paths you'll find...
or just go look at your school's track and imagine it painted green...
People exaggerate how flat it is. There's a few rolling hills, but what makes it really fast is the hard ground and short grass. It is in Wisconsin, though, so it could always be snowing by November.
7800 meters of flat fairways. I can't believe they're hosting a national meet on this course...might as well just have everybody run on a track. Cross country is supposed to be challenging, like that course out in Cleveland 2 years ago or the course at St Olaf which has hosted a couple national meets in the past decade.
Flat and fast, just like every stupid course in Wisconsin.
Take a look at the times for yourself:

Not sure what your point is but 4:50 per mile for the winner doesn't seem very fast to me. If you were pointing out that it is a course the NCC does well at then maybe you have a point but they did a better job in Cleveland.
My point was that it was a fast course. Most of the national courses don't have times as fast as that. Since 1973 I believe that was the quickest time it took to be All-American (24:33). This is DIII we're talking about, not DI. It's not often you see a few guys in the 23s in DIII.
The OP asked if it was a fast course or a slow course. I still stand by it being a fast course even if 4:50/mile is slow to you (BTW, it's 4:46 per mile for 23:42).
I ran in Cleveland two years ago and that was a pretty damn tough course. Got my ass kicked by all 7 NCC guys, what they did that year was insanely impressive.

You've never run at UW-Platteville's home course. Take a look at results when UWP hosted conference...those are some big names running slow...

In my one experience with Wisconsin courses, I found that the snow made the course not so fast.

Pretty sure Lake Breeze doesn't run quite that fast anymore...
