What college coaches today use the methods described in the sub 1:50 thread? Who would you want to run for today?
Mike Mulqueen at Rutgers is a Gags disciple If im not mistaken
great question. this thread needs bumpage until the great old sub 4 arises and quenches thee thirst of knowledge
Is mulqueen a new coach there? When is the last time Rutgers had any good mid distance or distance runners?
Doesn't say so on the Rutgers website, but it does say he ran at Manhattan when Gags coached there, and I know he lets Gags' group use the facilities at Rutgers.
It will be interesting to see what coaches use these methods, they seem pretty successful to me (Nick Symmonds, Rich Kenah, the list goes on....)
Old Sub 4, Another canuck where you at?
Old Sub 4 has to be one of the most knowledgeable posters on LR. A nice break from the super mileage pissing contests
Vin Lannana (Oregon, Andy Wheating, etc) and Gags are old friends and have shared training regimes.
Matt Centrowitz (American U, father of US Champ) & Gags coached together
Ron Helmer coached under Gags (Indiana)
Danny Ireland was a Gags asst (La Salle)
Mark Wetmore (Colorado - multiple XC Champs) ran for Gags at Rutgers
Gina Procaccio (Villanova-2010 XC champs) trained with Gags and Helmer with the Enclave
Juli Henner (Air Force, Jenny B Simpson coach) trained with Gags and Helmer with the Enclave
The Farm team, The Oregon Track Club,
All can be traced back to Gags, Centro blending of speed into the oregon system (which was lifted from lydiard)....etc only other US coaches that came close in productivity were Warhurst, Sam Bell.
