Centro has so much more experience than the others running qualifying rounds and tactical finals....this year alone. Indoors, conference, regionals, NCAA's, nationals.
The others only had nationals.
Manzano and Wheating ran just as many rounds in the NCAA as Centro. They also have much more experience (especially Manzano) with international fields.
I've become convinced that some runners just have much more of an intuitive sense of tactics than others. Maybe they are just more aware of the movements of other runners and are better able to anticipate. Point guards, race car drivers, quarterbacks all have this ability.
Other runners seem to be caught a little more out of position when there are shifts and movement in the pack.
Centro has impressed me as someone who does have that extra sense in knowing where to position himself in the field.
I don't think it is coincidence that runners like Lagat, Borzi, Ramzi, and others have been very successful in championship races.
