I think Manzano made it on time but DAMN way too close for comfort there!

Hope Manzano doesn't plan to hang out in Lane 2 in the semis.
O'Lionaird is probably the most likeable runner around right now, in my opinion.

Yeah - life would be so much better if you could just always run in lane 1 and then everyone would move out of your way when you wanted to move in the race.
Leo advances, hopefully with the knowledge of how to race a 1500.

And got caught up is some serious jostling. At least if your going to run in lane 2 and sometimes 3, you should keep yourself out of trouble.
Got in on time, otherwise FAIL.
Had a great race against, Lagat, sucked this time....
So he's due for a great race in the semis?
manzano disappointing??? he qualified as a fast loser you cows
If you had told me our hopes and dreams were going to rest on Cetrowitz's shoulders in the World Champs in April I'd have laughed in your face and punched you in the damn throat! We're Facked!
Yes, disappointing tactics for both. I guess Centro still is the best of the 3 this summer. Wheating didn't look that bad, as he ran in lane 3 on that last 200 which makes running a 26 much more difficult.

Just stay in lane one for the first two laps. Even if you are boxed.
You still have 700m to find a hole at that point but won't waste any energy.
To give Manzano credit, he really did absorb a lot of contact in that heat. These qualifying heats are such a crapshoot.
I was wondering why Komen went out a blistering pace. After watching close contact for the next two heats...I understood why!
I'm not a Centro fan but at least he's gutsy and he seems to have the knack for racing well and smartly. We'll see what happens. He'll need a hell of a kick to finish top 3 in the final -- I know that much.
You guys keep talking tactics, it would also help if you ran faster than everyone else.
MANZANO's in, so STOP ripping him you stink bugs! Even the commentators mock the heats as just clearance runs for the semis. The IAAF basically treats them like that so they can get the 3:50 1500m runners out in the morning before the fast ones run in the afternoon sesh.
Anyway, JEEZE LOUISE.
CENTRO and MANZANO in and I believe they will both make the final. Why? Because I believe IN them, something that most of you are unwilling to do.
Martinson (CAN) is through - not bad for a guy with a 3:37 PR in his first WC.

I didn't notice Leo running wide, but Wheating has a serious problem with geometry. When's the last time you saw Lagat run more than 1610 meters? Symmonds run more than 805? Centro?
Wheating runs an extra 20 meters every race, and a significant part of it while his world-class competition is in full sprint. He'd have to be in 3:29 shape to beat these guys like that.
Just a quick question or maybe I missed something but how are...
7 Juan Carlos Higuero 3:40.71 q
8 Leonel Manzano 3:40.77 q
9 Geoffrey Martinson 3:40.98 q
...the three time qualifiers when the 7th and 8th place finishers from Heat 1 were faster?
1 Daniel Kipchirchir Komen 3:38.54 Q
2 Nicholas Willis 3:39.24 Q
3 Yoann Kowal 3:39.33 Q
4 Diego Ruiz 3:39.33 Q
5 Mohamed Moustaoui 3:39.35 Q
6 Matthew Centrowitz 3:39.46 Q
7 Chaminda Indika Wijekoon 3:39.61 (NR)
8 Ryan Gregson AUS 3:40.01
?
I just checked the IAAF website - based on the times there, Wijekoon (3.39.61) and Gregson (3.40.01) should have progressed in front of Manzano... wtf? Is there an error with the times or the qualifiers?
Hey, try this from earlier--it's past your bedtime.
