I have a race in the morning and since my coach is such a freaking genius he had us do a hard workout today. My legs are shot. How can I help them recover quicker? I already took a 7 minute ice bath.

Try taking an ice bath or icing just your legs. Icing never hurts.
Have a warm shower in the morning
Them a good warm up before the race
While not ideal when you are young you can recover quickly. I've run pr's racing on consecutive days
Late August races don't matter (unless you are at the WCs).

Wow I should have thought of that earlier! Oh wait...
xc races in august are just for practice.
lol 7 min? DOes that even help? I stay in for 20.
If you are in the ice bath for anything less than 20 minutes then you might as well have not gotten in. You will not get any benefits going less than 20(yes, the research supports this)
double that ice bath and you're almost at the effective range for the treatment. that said, if my coach had put me in a hard workout the day before the race, i would have refused.

Then you would be kicked off the team if your coach had any sense. Chances are it was all a part of the plan. Why would you taper for the first meet of the year?
there is no one night fix. Get a good night of sleep, use a massage stick. If you have a few days, art is the answer.
Tylenol.
