Something without medial posting!
Actual shoe recommendations, please.
i would suggest nike structure triax
you may want to try rolling the it band out with a foam roller though - it has worked really well for me, although it hurts
if you google you can see how you position yourself to roll it out from the hip to the knee in a continuous motion
agreed with the guy that said to go with a shoe without medial posting (as long as you are some big time over-pronator). I switched to the asics cumulus from a shoe with medial posting. The pain didn't immediately go away, but I do believe it was a factor that got me out on the road faster.
Thank you. I am already using a foam roller and seeing a physical therapist. But cannot seem to nail down a decent pair of shoes to help things along.

I run in Nike Waffle Racers. They are flats but I don't think everybody needs to run in flats, the key for ITBS is just to get rid of the medial post.

I agree this is the case in most situations, but for me it was actually different. I was running in the Nike Pegasus 2000 - neutral, very soft, no support - and had major IT problems in my knee and saw switched to the Asics 2070 - lighter, simpler, smaller medial post version of current 2160 - and my problems went away.
Try a size 9D Nike Skylon. That's what worked for me.
If we knew what you were running in, we might be able to give a better idea of what fits your foot and therefore give you some more useful advice.
get a foam roller.
Oh boy, did I have IT band problems. They were caused by Lexus car seats - any Toyota sets it off. So the shoes that helped most for me (5'10", 150lbs, 30-40 miles/week) is the Newbalance Minimus trail. It stretches my calves out because it has such a low profile.
The bigger solution for me was this stretch:
I agree with the no medial post. Based on my personal experience, I wouldn't get anything with a "support" device, plastic on the outsole, denser foam on inside, "internal" support devices like in the LunarGlide, etc. I wouldn't wear the Triax for that reason.
Beyond that, I would try out a variety of light, neutral trainers and find the one that feels best to you. Shoes to think about would be the Brooks Launch, Saucony Kinvara, Nike Lunarfly, Asics Speedstar, and shoes in that range.
