Didn't he go out in like 57 in that road mile in Minnesota??

Then 57 it is.
Thanks actual data.
Hall is so set on his marathon pace, I would honestly say take his current marathon training pace and divide by 130 or so and you get a 400 time

i think it was something like 61 seconds.
Is this really the best topic you could think of to post? A better question would be: how fast could the Blade Runner run 400m with normal legs.
great story and all. wrote:
i was running 52's in my sleep when i was a sophmore and couldn't crack the varsity squad. when Hall was in 4:02 shape in HS he could easily run a 48.
He ran 50.5 the year he ran 3:42.

how bad can a girl be running 52?

Uh hello this man is a 2:04 marathoner! I've seen girls run 52, and not good ones either. He'd come in at 46 mid, and he'd be givin' out high fives on the straightaway too.
Van West is correct. It was actually 50 high in an open 400m his senior year of high school. League meet if I remember correctly.
This is the most pointless thread ever. A bunch of amateurs COMPLETELY GUESSING about what they think (or feel) what someone else could run. Seriously??!! Get a life.
he could run 52. thats what distance guys do
lul
Who cares?

Really?!?!?! Is that really how you FEEL??? Are you sure that isn't how you think or believe? Ugh!!!
I feel like this guy's upset ^^
Ryan Hall ran a 48 in high school, so do all of your extrapolations and calculations from the shape he was in then to determine what he could run now.
I'd say sub-50 at least.

Really?
So why didn't he run sub 3:30?
This is what we have ventolin for, right?
2'04'58 -> 1'03'53 = DNF
go ask him!
can't really help as that calculator says "only for track races" & besides, there is huge uncertainty as to intrinsic worth of that 2"04 because of the wind
he also hasn't run a track race in years ?
however, you gotta believe he coud go 27'00/27'10 off that boston form
the 5k is more unpredictable; likely to be slower than most 5k/10k guys around 27'00 because of the speed being wrung out of him with all that distance mileage, so maybe
13'05/13'10
some estimates
13'05 / 27'10 -> 54.1 , 1'53.0 , 7'37.8 , 59'36 , 2"03'24
13'05 / 27'00 -> 55.6 , 1'55.1 , 7'40.0 , 58'52 , 2"01'14
13'10 / 27'10 -> 56.0 , 1'55.9 , 7'43.0 , 59'13 , 2"01'56
13'10 / 27'00 -> 57.4 , 1'58.0 , 7'45.2 , 58'29 , 1"59'47
ignore the 1/2M & M as they aren't track races ( but i suppose a track woud be worth close to 1'00 quicker for 1/2M & 2'00 for M because of the "perfect" consistent conditions )
anyhows, lot of variability in possible current 400 ability
the average of those 4 is
55.8
maybe go with that as a prelim estimate
I'm a 4:20 miler and I can run a 53 at least, Hall is world class. I'm sure he could knock out a 53 if he had to right now.
