My guess is that the Princeton men will possibly defeat or only narrowly lose to the entire league. Princeton will break the league record for all-time lowest score this fall. They are unbeatable!
What is the record? I'd imagine Dartmouth posted some low sticks back in the Lannana days. I think Princeton will be competitive against the rest of the league but they just can't beat the depth... if every other team has just one person faster than Princeton's 5th, then the league gets 7 in before princeton's 5.
the only guys I see capable of breaking into Princeton's top 5 would be Merber from Columbia, Shaw and Royer from Dartmouth, and maybe Ormen from Harvard. Princeton will beat the entire Ivy League and score under 25 points.
Best Team Scores:
I see Princeton going
1 Cabral PRI
2 Shaw DAR
3 Leung PRI
4 Merber COL
5 Owens PRI
6 Stilin PRI
7 Harvard Freshman (Cotton -or- Orman)
8 Royer DAR
9 Kenimer DAR
10 Pons PRI
= 25 pts
The best Heps scores ever:
19, Penn (1971)
21, Harvard (1969)
23, Dartmouth (1994)
25, Princeton (1982)
25, Dartmouth (1988)
25, Dartmouth (1991)
25, Princeton (1997)
27, Navy (1966)
27, Harvard (1968)
27, Princeton (1981)
27, Dartmouth (1987)
29, Penn (1973)
30, Army (1965)
30, Dartmouth (2005)
do people forget that leung was 21st at NCAAs last year? few runners in HEPS history have xc credentials on par with leung's 21st place finish. the only person i foresee possibly beating leung is cabral.
Could Leung beat Cabral at Heps (he did at NCAAs XC last year)? Or is Cabral too strong to be beat?

Orman beat Owens at Foot Locker last year. Doesn't mean he will do it again, but it could happen. He was on fire last May on the track and loves 10k xc.

My reasoning
Shaw beat Leung last year. Leung doesnt care if he is 2nd or 5th (He probably does but you know what I mean) he knows that princeton will win heps and that the real goal is to run top 20 at nationals
Owens beating Orman. He gets better at longer distances.(see half marathon time and recent race at Van Cortland)
Again anything can happen and you can make a reason for any order i think though you can all agree that Princeton will put their top 5 in the top 15 overall.
Also,
Princeton will get 4th at nationals! Believe it.
3 All Americans Cabral, Leung and Owens and their 4/5 will be top 75

Course is the same as last year. Starts on field near 4k traditional finish, goes north and around on the new path, like a track. Before reaching the actual finish, course goes left and you do that loop again (mile is near where the new path intersects with the old path that's part of the course, by the dog park). Cow path, back hills loop (2 mile is shortly after the bridge, then 3 mile is shortly before going back over it), then stay to the left as if you're finishing the 4k course. Cemetary hill loop, the finish is normal.

It will be fun to see how it plays out. Coaching, of course, should also play a big role in how these freshmen transition. Princeton obviously has the record of success.
Any meets coming up soon that most of the Ivy teams will be at? Harvard has HY(P) this weekend, but Princeton men don't attend.

Saturday, September 17
Brown & Penn at the Iona Meet of Champions (Van Cortlandt Park: Bronx, N.Y.)
Cornell at Colgate Invitational (Lang Course: Hamilton, N.Y.)
Harvard hosts Yale and Princeton women (Franklin Park: Boston, Mass.)
Friday the 30th should be a fun weekend. On the men's side all 8 Ivy teams will be running at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh. An inter-ivy clash between Dartmouth and Columbia will likely be the main interest. Princeton men have Notre Dame on the schedule that weekend as well, so I assume they are doing a split squad like they've done in years past. It will also be interesting to see how individuals from the remaining teams stack up against the field.
Harvard men defeated Yale: 23-34
James Leakos (H) individual winner. (Billy Orman (H) 2nd overall by 3 seconds)
Princeton women defeated Yale and Harvard: 27-36-71
Alex Banfich (Pr) individual winner (all Princeton scorers in top 10)

5. Columbia, 180
7. Penn, 193
Women:

1. Iona, 84
2. Penn, 86
3. Brown, 89
8. Columbia, 174
I would say I'd put Stanford at number one and CMU at number 2. Princeton is always strong at Thirds.
Alright, two weeks in a row now, I'm a believer. This is the year the Yale women don't finish last at heps (as they have for the previous 9).
It will be Princeton's B team vs the rest of the Ivy League at Paul Short. It will be interesting to see how they place against everyone's A team
I predict they will be third
1 DAR
2 COL
3 PRIN B
Heps is now a tri-meet. If that was Penn and Brown's real teams they are terrible. Both were broken up by a Columbia team missing probably their 15 guys. Cornell, Harvard and Yale just can;t compete with the top three.
You think Columbia has 15 guys that can run 25:40 on VCP?
Dream on.
