i know he is not a 10k runner, but hall should be up there with kitwara and kisorio, maybe 5 -10 seconds behind, not 70 seconds behind, i know people will say he is training through it and he probably is, but so are kitwara and kisorio. hall is really good he should not run so poorly like today and his last few half marathons, hall should of blown away all the americans, i dont understand it.
This is one reason Americans don't race much. They have a so/so race in ridiculous conditions (dewpoint 69) and they get this kind of criticism.
not critisizing i think hall is great. just inconsistent.

I have to agree with you. It's like they're washed up if they don't win. Someone on this message board won't be impressed and we all know that the most critical guys are the most knowledgeable and have the fastest PR's.
I'd love to see our top runners racing each other and the Kenyans and Ethiopians on the roads. Like the guys in the 70's and 80's.

it would be a good idea to give her and her husband and 2 sons citizenship, imagine the running genes their kids will have, would be a great catch for USA running.
Hells yeah. The U.S. government should make it a point to seek out top foreign athletes and hand them citizenship, even if they're not seeking it. As long as they promise to breed offspring who are also great athletes, that is. Forget the people with ordinary jobs who actually have to go through the application process and wait a number of years.

Give him a break, Douglas is probably planning on marrying one of the kids ;) On second thoughts Douglas, maybe that is how they can get their citizenship?
douglas I heard Genzebe Dibaba will get US citizenship this year, is this true?
Amazing the difference between road racing and track racing. Same guys can't hang on the track that can hang on the roads.
Not sure if you noticed, but the guy who won actually ran in the exact same conditions as Hall. So did every single one of the guys who beat Hall today- it doesn't make any sense to give an excuse of 'poor conditions' when every other runner out there was in the exact same situation. I would like to see Hall succeed but he got his butt kicked today.

Somehow I doubt Hall or other elite runners decide how much to race on the basis of message board criticism.
Nice run by True. Glad to see him running well.
Agreed, Ben True is a boss.
And Ryan Hall seems to be the only elite runner that gets absolutely crushed on a regular basis.
Yea, I said earlier this season Hall would have trouble breaking 29 on the track right now and this goes to prove it. That 2:04 high was so aided by that hurricane behind him. He can't adjust to faster pace at all. Ran a horrible 4:17 mile earlier.

And the only one that continues to show up when it matters.

Hall is a marathoner so he should be only judged on marathons.
Boston Marathon doesnt really "matter." first of all the course is point to point so no matter how fast Hall runs it wont be worth shit in the eyes of the IAAF. Second of all, its just the Boston Marathon. i get that its an important race and all but i would much rather have American runners run well in the olympics and world championships than in road races. ideally they would kick ass in both but when it comes down it, if youre going to a hit or miss runner can you please make sure to "hit" the olympics and world championships and "miss" everything else?
Hall is the most consistent marathoner America has. His disciple is marathons, not 10ks.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
