i remember that race. rupp ran very well and had it at the end, which has always been something he's been criticized for--lack of pure speed.
It wasn't so much Rupp's blazing speed, it was more the fact that Solinsky skeleton danced in the last 150 or so.
Race of a life time would put both in 10th place. 3 or 4 seconds behind 9th. 3 or 4 seconds is serious daylight. More likely they go 2710 and look like the HS kid in the two mile. They were in way over their heads and hyped on top of that. Rupp and Solisky are not world class runners. They are a generation behind.
Solisky Livestong = cheatsrong wake the f*** up "dopey"
they both suck so they fued over who sucks just a little bit less.
look at solisky deer in the headlights
may need to get a job
and like the rest they'll be forgotten unless they medal at the olys or wc

they have better shot in olys
any easy money race they are not top 10 because Africans will swoop in for pay
maybe a 3rd in major marathon or champs

Back in 2007 in one of the very first videos flotrack had to offer, solinsky was way out in the lead over rupp with 200 meters to go in an oregon twilight 5,000m race. Rupp started a pretty huge passing solinsky with about 5 meters to go and kind of catching solinsky off guard.

slim chance they'll even medal. they should join MTC to improve their variety of training at real altitude instead of the bubble they live in.

one less idiot on Let's Run
you,re welcome
Come on people! This is what we are waiting for! A fierce rivalry can do nothing but help distance running in America! If Nike doesn't play this up over the next year before the Olympics, they are complete idiots. Remember the whole Dave and Dan thing? My parents don't follow running at all, yet they remember who those two guys are because of the rivarly and the commercials before the 92 Olympics.
Let's get them going at each other's throats! Make commercials! Get their races highlighted on ESPN somehow. They are two great runners, people love rivalries, Auburn vs. Alabama, Beatles vs. Rolling Stones, Coe vs. Ovett! Think about how much publicity they got in England about those two.
For the record I'm on team Solinsky...
Rupp is like Notre Dame. Like every person I've ever met from Notre Dame, Rupp is probably a nice guy. Instead of NBC doing the bidding (Touchdown Jesus/Win One for the Gipper), it's Nike/Salazar. Throw in the questions around his collegiate eligiblity and he's not universally well liked. Unlike Notre Dame, Rupp has actually won something this Millenium.
Stanford 10K - Rupp and Solinksy aren't teammates. What do you expect after such a big moment with guys like Bairu/Jager hugging on the guy. I would be out of there too.
Oregon 10K - Solinsky didn't bring up Rupp, the interviewer did. Given the 2008 Olympic Trials 5K issues regarding Salazar's crew, as well as the Adam Goucher 10K issues from the same meet, I'm sure there are many elites who think Salazar is the puppet master. (see K.D.'s comments about not spending emotional energy - good life lesson)

Salazar says Rupp warmed up with Mo (while wearing a mask). Probably did it to help out his teammate.
What are they, racehorses? Only comfortable if they have a stablemate next to them before a race?? Child please ....
The above is worth repeating. Nailed it, especially the Rupp-Notre Dame comparison. POD.
What is the 08 Trials Issue 5K you are referring to?
That video of Jerry bringing Galen over to congratulate Chris makes Jerry look like a punk. Galen is a professional athlete, not a kindergartener. If he wants to give Chris a handshake, it's his choice, not Jerry's.
I saw Rupp in his running gear on Thursday morning while chatting up with this teammate at the Best Western hotel.
Not only that he was walking around with his street clothes as well.
Allergies my ass.
The bad blood started way before then. It was at the Olympic 5k semi-finals when top 4 advanced, and Rupp sprinted to first at the end and celebrated. Solinski couldn't stand that Rupp won and celebrated in what he though was a "fourth is the same as first" race. Yet he could've done the same thing, but didn't. All he did was whine to the media.

The pollen level was significantly lower on Thursday (about 5, classified as "low-medium") than Friday (about 9, classified as "medium-high").
What kind of clothes should he have been wearing if he was concerned about the pollen levels?
And, should he be wearing something other than running gear when "chatting up with this teammate"?
And, even more importantly, should he not be talking to any teammates while in pollen-infested Eugene?
Inquiring minds want to know.
There is a combo shake/embrace after this race. Never realized how Solinsky crashed at the line. Any photos or head-on shots of that finish?

Which video are you referring to? There are a couple different angles circulating and it looked like Alberto was the one to send Galen. I could be mistaken though.
