4:03.22
Didn't make a move on Walden until 200 left, and put 5 seconds on him.
I don't really follow Indiana track anymore but this guy just doubled back with a 1:49. Broke Rudy Chapa's 1600 record and an equally ancient 800 record.
Those times are awesome for the Mudd!
Incredible double! There are only 70 minutes between the start of the 1600 and the 800.
Official 800 time was 1:49.25
He was in the slow heat of the 800 so he was 5.5 seconds ahead of second place!
Why was he in the slow heat?
What's his progression been like through the year?
Very cool name
I wish mine was that unique
Add a leg on the winning 4x400 (3:14). Jesus Christ.

no idea, he's had the fastest time in the state in both events this year. had the fastest regional time in the 800 too, i believe.
Based on the finish times - with the obvious exception of the 1:49 - those looked to be even heats. Though Indiana has historically had fast/slow heats for the 800m.
The night of regionals was very windy/rainy so some of the regionals got postponed to the next day. His did not, so his qualifying time was not great (1:57 I believe) due to the poor conditions I assume.
He ran a 4:12 full mile in mid April unleashing a monster kick:

I'm pretty sure it was an 8 second PR for the 1600 though.
Here's a good interview of him after that 4:12 in April:

He had the fastest 800 and 3rd fastest 1600 coming into the meet.
The 1:49 doesn't surprise me so much, since he ran 1:50 last year. But 4:03??? Taking down Chapa's "unbeatable" record?
I am shocked.
He broke to pretty old records tonight. That was an awesome display of running.

Walden must be quite a tough runner. Is there a video of this race?

The 4:03 shocked me. The 1:49 shocked me even more considering he ran 4:03 AND had to run out of the slow heat! 47 split on the 4x4 as well. Mudd was awesome!
Rumor on the street is that this Mudd character has a decent kick. true?
Me thinks, the Dream Mile should start vacuuming in these sub 4:10 milers, maybe they'll be a half dozen sub four minute smilers. :) to top off the season.
