Greetings from Chicago. No, I didn’t run the marathon, though it was exciting to watch on local TV. Does Paula Radcliffe just go to all majors or did she get a tip that her record was going down today? I went for a run this morning and can attest the conditions were absolutely perfect.
So, two things since I last posted. First, doubles are the bomb. I don’t know why I stayed away from them, but they really are doing the trick of getting me to the fatigue levels I need to build endurance, without forcing me to do really long workouts. Thanks again to everyone who put in a word on those.
Second, I’m really enjoying having a second set of eyes on my workouts. On Wednesday I told Kid Coach that getting a long run in this weekend while visiting grandkids would be problematic, so he said, do it Friday before you leave, then a rest day. Not sure I would have the confidence to do that myself, but it went great. It helps that the humidity is FINALLY gone. I feel like Igy, with that spring back in his step. Congrats Igy, I never doubted the snowball would pick up speed.
The other thing that’s happening in our town are Wednesday workouts. Kid Coach now has about 18-20 of us running around the mondo track, and we’re sorting out into groups, which helps everyone. So much of running is a solitary experience, it’s been wonderful having folks to push me and others I can help pull along. Besides, too much time alone makes you a little nutso, I think. You start going online and trolling people, for instance.
