Last night I had a steak, bake potato, salad with oil and vinegar dressing, glass of wine. Personally I don’t think it impaired my health or my running.
Diet debates are like religious and political ones, a great way to lose friends.
No kidding!..diet debates are getting ridiculous in this day & age! Just last week at the gym I work out at, I had to breakup a near fight in the locker room between to hostile guys arguing about the Vegan vs Keto diet. And these weren't immature young bucks but older guys around my age (late 50s). And neither one looked that great- both were overweigh, both had a little bit of a pot belly, and neither had much muscularity. Lol.
I really don't know what this is all about. The Vegans get nasty pushing their diet and showing all the studies that supports their stance. The Keto people also get mean pushing their diet and showing the their studies. Sadly, PETA can get really nasty with the animal protein eaters while animal protein advocates get hostile with Vegans & Vegatarians.
Here's the irony of this: Three (3) out of four of my grandparents lived long healthy lives passing away at ages 99 (GF), 90 (GF), & 95 (GM). They were all born before 1900 with the exception of one GM born in 1911. Only one GM was in bad health and spent the last 10 or 12 yrs of her life in a nursing home before passing at age 90 (glaucoma, dementia, advanced OA, heart issues). The other three died peacefully at home of natural causes. These three were never on any prescription meds and very rarely even took an aspirin, OTC anti-inflammatory medication, cough syrup, etc. None of them were overweight.
I was lucky because as a youngster I got to spend a lot of time with my grandparents because all of them lived here in the city I grew up in. There diets were balanced; lots of fresh vegetables & fruits, pastas & breads, whole-grain cereals, steak, roast beef, chicken, fish, eggs, bacon. Everything organic (as was most everything back then). And deserts were always ice cream and/or a small piece of homemade pie. And they all drank a ton of coffee; two cups in the morning, two cups after lunch and a cup or two after dinner as they relaxed with either reading the evening paper or watching antenna TV. One grandfather like to have a glass of wine before bed and smoked an occasional stogie.
I can only imagine they must be rolling their eyes now in the afterlife at this ridiculous division that exists in this country over diets!
