My running week was focused on recovery from a hamstring problem. It seized up during a hard-ish 400 two weeks ago on Tuesday; I spent the rest of that week limping/walking a mile or two a day just to try to get some blood flowing through the hamstring. By this past week, I was ready to try running carefully.
M - 5.5 easy
T - 8.2 easy
W - 10.8 easy
T - 6 easy, focus on form (ankle push-off, engage hamstrings) - hamstring tightened up so cut run short
F - 3 easy, focus on form - hamstring tightened up so cut run short
S - off - give hamstring some rest
S - 5 easy, focus on form
This week, I'm continuing to increase mileage steadily while focusing on form.
My average weekly mileage over the past 20 weeks of so has been about 85, mostly at 9-9:30 pace. While that pace hasn't gotten much faster, my tempo pace has gradually improved to the point where a few weeks ago I managed a 10M tempo in just under 65. I haven't run a race in about a decade; hoping to get a bit closer to a sub-60 10M before I do, though at this point it's not clear I'll ever get back there :-) Doesn't really matter -- I'm just enjoying the daily running, and don't feel a strong urge to race.
On the doubles question: like amkelley and some others, I don't really feel a need to double. Even when my mileage is over 100, as it has been a couple of times this summer, I just run between 12 and 15 every day, plus 20+ on Sunday. I'm looking forward to that getting a bit easier once we get into Fall weather!
