threads 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 10 are all running related. That is 70% of threads, and only 1 is an obvious troll thread (number 10).
So it is official that this board has not "jumped the shark."
I'm sorry, but I'm not buying it.
You greatly oversimplified your evidence in that supposedly representative sample. What you didn't quantify is the number of exceedingly immature posts, lewd comments, and profanity-laden personal attacks within each one of those threads, whether they are running related or not. Even in the aftermath it would be difficult to cross-reference and actually count them, because some of them actually get deleted. What a concept, huh?
I used to visit the LetsRun boards on a daily basis and contribute almost as often. Sifting through the verbal diarrhea in order to find the worthwhile posts simply wasn't worth the effort anymore. As a result, I (much like many other coaches and athletes) only stop by on relatively special occasions. I happen to be looking in today because it's a big weekend for NCAA competitions.
I know that Wejo & Rojo cultivate the free-wheeling, "wild west" atmosphere without a mandatory registration policy in order to thoroughly enjoy the occasional iconic thread. But what very few people seem to ever talk about is how many amazing threads we will never see because of the outstanding (potential) message board contributors who have been driven away by the same type of anti-social cowards that I described above. It's really a shame.
