Do not follow her around or some stupid thing like that. Be cool, like you have a so many other worthwhile things to do besides talk to her. Do not let her catch you looking at her after that initial conversation on that first day.
It's like training....there is a process involved.

Yeah, because no girl has had guys take the "hit and run" approach before. Guys are so predictable. Most attractive girls are hit on constantly and get tired of the stupid things guys do to attempt to get their attention. It is annoying.

I think we have a chicken and the egg situation here. I pretty sure most girls won't let you see their vag until you powerpoint them first.
Do you want real advice? First don't just pick out one girl who seems attractive and try figure out how to talk with her. Look at the broader picture.
Become friendlier with more people at meets, males and females. Make sure you initiate congratulations to your fellow competitors. Become interested in other teams and how they are doing and who the stars in other events, male and female, are. This will be a conversation starter. Watch the races as a fan and if you a near someone and something interesting occurs comment on it. Don't force it or do it too much or it will come off weird. Comment even if its a female who does a throwing event.
Enjoy banter with others if you just do it because you are lonely and feel you have to people will sense it.

Actually there is a step 2. Since you are at a track, after her gaze has been drawn to your junk you ask her if she wants to take a few laps.
When she is about to line up, say good luck to her. after the race asked her how did it go or that she ran very well.

yup, you need to find out what her 5k and 1600 PRs are. If she is fast enough, then proceed with the ppt. Gotta do your research before hand.

I like this idea.
For starters you can say hi. Actually from what women tell me, it's more creepy to hang around and not say anything than to go over and start a conversation about whatever. Girls aren't dumb. They know why you're there talking to them. ok I'll take that back. Some girls are dumb. But most aren't.
