That looked like 90% of my high school cross team back in '95.
Ok everyone, time to be very self-aware and remember your high school days...or if you're in high school lose the pride and face reality!
Unless you're from one of those weird schools without a football program (we had one in our conference) Cross-Country is the sport no one really cares about. You have one weird 'super-fan' who comes to meets because well he comes to every school sporting event. Most of us joined Cross-Country because we weren't good at any other sports. Now, if you're good, you win meets, you get your name in the paper, you're successfull....then MAYBE you're treated a little differently because kids dig success. Your average high school Cross-Country runner is very goofy, runs 18:00 for 5k, rail thin, and somewhat socially inept. Things change in college....
In college now you're surrounded by lots of successful kids. Smart kids. Now you are a part of a "collegiate athletic program". That's a big deal, that's special. You go out drinking once, twice, three times a week (good times at Eastern Kentucky!...too bad they shut down The Dog). Now you improve your social skills through the magic of dime draft night! You become humorous. Now the females who ignored you in high school realize how "great" a catch you are.....NAH!..you're still trolling for the emo chics..;)
