Does anyone know if there are any big 10k track meets between the week of Aug 1st and Aug 15th? Does not matter where it is, I’m willing to travel anywhere as long as it is a good quality meet.
Thank you

Define big what exactly are you trying to run
That's a very big track.
nope
looking for 28:15-28:30 type of race. I have a personal best of 28:30. could not race this spring because of an injury so I'm moving my season to the summer. I really don't want to be on the roads and would like to get in one solid race on the track.
thanks

Hi two good options for you..
The British championships is July 29th in Birmingham and they accept foreign entries. Last year was won in 27.57 by an African then a bit of a gap but plenty of guys from 28.30-29.30 from memory.
Then there is a 10k put on by Dave Norman again in Birmingham but at the uni track on Aug 13th. Usually well attended. 2 years ago a Brit ran 28.20 there.
Prob best to find Dave Norman on facebook and ask him. He could probably help you with finding someone to stay and train with assuming your not from the UK already.
Hope that helps
those are two great options... thank you so much for the help. also, do you know about the weather at that time of the year? wind/heat?
thanks
Summer in Britain (especially evening) is perfect for distance racing. Usually cool and still after about 7-8pm. If it's a rare hot week it could still be warm at 8/9pm race time but probably no hotter than 65f or so.
28;30 would have placed you about 10th on the USA list for 2010. How long ago was your PR?
I'm trying to figure out what American with 13:40?/28:30 speed does not have a support sponsor/coach/agent to help him plan his racing schedule.
Sh!tty place be be in fast enough for USA Nats slow enough to be ignored by the shoe money guys. I suggest you get thee to the roads where you can get 3 hots, a cot, some per diem, a plane ticket and some prize money with your 28:30
trust me..I know guys faster then that and have no support. you can't even eat anymore with a 28:30 on the roads. I want to stick to what I love for now before I move to the roads.
thanks
to out yourself?
In the last 6 years 28;30 on average would take 15th place on the USA proformers list with 6th in 05 and 27 in 08 being the extremes.
Have you been ranked in the top 10 on the T&FN Amaricans list?
Like I said before, it doesn't matter if you are American or Japanese or anywhere in between. 28:30 will not feed you.. You can win couple of bucks here and there but the sad truth is, you're only a human and can race just X amount of times a year. I'm not in it for the money; I'm doing it for my satisfaction.
Forget Cuxhaven. It's the closest meet to my home town, and they often have some good performances in the long or high jump, but no distance running.
You find an overview here:

Despite what it says on that page though, the meet in Bochum has been cancelled for 2011:
