an athletic built miler could also get a few points in the shot and weight
This is what makes me consider it. Winning the 8, mile, 3k, and 5k is 40 points and displaces Oregon 6, so the new target is 61 points. That means between the 400, shot, and weight, I would need 21 points. Unlikely. If I were fresh I could probably win the 400, but after shot, weight, a 4:35 mile, a 4:32 mile, a 3-mile tempo, and a near-all-out 400 already... Maybe get 4th, for 5 points. Need 16 from the shot and weight, not happening right now. If I were given a month to train for it I could, since I could get a lot stronger and a lot better technically without any harm to my chances of losing the distance events.
Winning the DMR is feasible for a more elite 5K guy (it's 8:08/13:35 pace) but since it's on the first day it might tire you out too much. A lot harder to score points in the shot put or long jump, etc. on legs that raced a hard 4K the day before.
