when was she ever "not-back"? Where did she ever go? Was she hurt or something? When you graduate and switch coaches, odds are you'll hve a season to grow into your new life outside of the cushy college support system. Now she's racing again at a super high level. It's not like she got hurt, had three years of horrible racing, lost her shoe deal, lost her coach, and had to start selling shoes at Boulder Running Co. She had a minor injury that was healed in 8-12 weeks during a non-Olympic and non-WC year. Most big time performers had an abbreviated racing schedule anyways, or raced off-events.
The point of my tirade is not that people should leave her alone and/or realize that she was entitled to a season of ** slightly lesser** performances than normal. The real issue is her acting like the damn world is against her. Everyone likes her, no one says any really bad things about her, yet she is trying to act like a victim. She feels it necessary to go on world-wide boradcasts and the internet and say that was to shut up the haters? Douche.
Jenny, if you want to see what "haters" look like: look at the people commenting on the careers of Webb, Hall, Ritz, German and Leo (for the first 5 months of every single season). You have no one within two time zones of that level of hate. Just because you aren't the peoples' champ like Solinsky for breaking 27, or the self-coached Japanese amateur who ran 2:07, doesn't mean people don't like you. We all like you and want to see you continue to run fast and win races. You aren't helping yourself with this "it's me against the world" BS. No one is buying it. The more you do it, the more indifferent we become to your career.
