Does she really think she's back by winning a paltry USATF Mile/3000m double, essentially racing no one, but losing the week prior to Kipyego, who is not a world-threat in any event?
She needs a reality check and needs to race the likes of Flanagan and Huddle.
You realize that Kipyego has a faster 5K PR than Flanagan and Huddle, right?
Flannagan would murder any of those ladies.

I saw that quote too, and my question is who exactly said she wouldn't be back? Even on this site, where everyone loves to declare an athlete "done" after a couple bad races, I don't recall a log of people saying Barringer/Simpson was never going to be back. I mean she's what, 23? Why would she not get back?

Simpson is a nut bag. So much so that she's the first person I thought of when I saw Charlie Sheen's recent whacked out interviews. Why can't more successful female distance runners be intelligent and down-to-earth like Jordan Hasay.
OP seems deliberately trying to stir the pot but whatever. Jenny Barringer Simpson is a class act who spent last weekend winning a national championship and then winning another national championship. Good for her--I hope she has some really great races on the track this summer!

Apparently you've never seen Simpson interviewed before. Certainly the subject matter is different, but she's every bit the flake that Sheen has been lately. The similarity in their mannerisms is uncanny.
Could you post a link to her most Charlie Sheen-like interviews? I must have missed it.

I really think that couldn't be too much further from the truth. JBS is a very classy, very together athlete and person. She's aggressive, and confident, which I think occassionally turns people on here off, but they're exactly the qualities that will ultimately bring her success at the next level.
If you've seen a track athlete who is better at an interview or press conference than Jenny in the current generation, I'd love to hear who that might be.
Maybe she's close to being as good as she was in college. Now she can work on becoming a good pro.
She's a jokester in a lot of her interviews and one of the more enjoyable people to hear speak. I'm absolutely certain she said the quote in a joking way and it's good to have athletes who make fun of themselves and who are also aware of the sort of things the fanbase says in their trolling.

Incidentally, Charlie is one lucky fellow for hooking up with Rachel Oberlin (aka Bree Olsen). If you've never seen her "work," it is rather impressive.

Seriously? I mean, really?? You can't think of ONE current track athlete who gives a more articulate and thoughtful interview than Simpson? If that's the case, then you aren't likely to be swayed by the facts.
I recall a period of time not long ago when people were accusing Kara Goucher of being a little dizzy in interviews (true, by the way), but she was no where near as wobbly as Simpson.
