Why not e-mail a black ethiopia coach this week?
BUMP
Has it been announced who takes Mutai's place on the men's squad if in fact he does not report to the Kenyan camp? I am thinking it would be the perfect opportunity to reward Ebuya with another chance for a great Euro cross season and just being the world champ. My guess is Ebuya would probably respond well, and perform great..

Ummm, correct me if I'm wrong but the Kenyan camps havent helped any runner after the Kenyan trials do better at Worlds. So why would Mutai WANT to go to a camp like that?
He won't answer you, because he can't. Didn't answer me, either.
Of course, you're completely in the right.

Your KKK ass, will never talk about the sorry white running camps. You just don't like blacks people coaching ass white.
Renato,
Thanks for taking the time to share so much of your knowledge on here... its truly invaluable and most of us deeply appreciate your time and willingness to share.
A question for you: you referred to the improvements in long distance times since the 1970's as being due to the combining of mileage and intensity,, and pointed to the slower improvements in middle distance world records when compared to 5000m and above, attributable to advances in long distance coaching methodology. What are your thoughts on modern approaches which might lead to improvements in middle distance world records? Do you feel that 1:40 is possible for 800m, or better? It seems that today's 800m and 1500m specialists stick more or less exclusively to one event. Do you believe we will see any of today's athletes or future ones with the capability of running world class 800m and 1500m simaltaneously as in the 1980's? A final question... do you believe we will ever see an athlete with world class ability in both 400m and 800m again, aka 44 and 1:43 speed or better?
Thank you in advance Renato for your thoughts.
i believe 2 of renato canova's runners who will making their marathon debut at boston this year, the husband and wife team of moses mosop and florence kiplagat will run this sundays paris half marathon as their final race before boston.
You expect Renato to go pick up white kids from KFC or Mcdonalds or from the village pub and convince them to start running and train them to be elite runners.Instaed of that how about he travels to Kenya and as soon as he lands he finds boys and girls training alone with worn out kit and with desire for someone to open doors for them
A great coach is also a smart coach.A smart coach looks for atheletes who have self motivation, interest and natural talent.A coach does not have nagic to give ordinary kids and tansform them into runners.A coach can only guide those who are born to be great runners to be great runners.
You guys have made this message boards a place for insults! Why don't you find something to do? You seem very, very drunk! Stop insulting great coaches who have turned many lives around for Kenyan, Ethiopian and Ugandan athletes. Instead of portraying your ignorance over here, tell us what you are doing to uplift the lives of others! I am Kenyan and we appreciate all the coaches, agents and managers who work with our athletes. Because of you, many young people have taken up the sport in the believe to become world champions like the ones you are managing. Keep up the good work!!
Renato CANOVA is BALLIN OUTTA CONTROL! His sh*t works so well it's SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! (w/ emphasis)
Yes. Thanks. Any more? I haven't heard of many European coaches in Ethiopia, like Kenya.

Given Boston 2011, it's time to revisit these words:

At the moment, there is an athlete clearly stronger than any other in the World, and is Geoffrey Mutai.
The guy knows his stuff. (Also, he coaches Mosop, the 2nd place 2:03:06 man.)
I am a U.S. physician in Sports Medicine and just returned from a trip to Iten, where we ran some sports medicine clinics for runners and hosted a medical conference for coaches, physios and runners at Iten's County Hospital. I'd be interested in connecting to you sometime and getting your thoughts on optimizing medical care and ExPhys for Kenya's runners. We have a Jaegar Oxycon Mobile system as well as diagnostic ultrasound at our disposal, and are arranging telemedicine services to Iten as I write. Are you on What's App?

This is very good of you to provide this service. How much would it cost?
It was bound to happen.
Right now. U.S. physicians will be out periodically, and we are encouraging athletes to enroll under the Kenyan national health plan, which would cover all services. We are hoping to start up a sports medicine fellowship training program in Iten to train Kenyans in the field.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
