No, Alberto did NOT coach Ritz to a 12:56. All Alberto did was have Ritz do a few speed workouts while he was running off of fitness from Hudson's training. Since that magical 12:56, Ritz's races have only been getting worse and worse as Ritz's base from Hudson has slowly faded away and he has to rely off of the "base" he gets from Salazar's 50 mile weeks. Everything has been declining since the 12:56 with sub par performances and more injuries. His times in the marathon and half marathon have gotten worse and worse. Hudson gets all the credit for the 12:56, not Salazar.
Plus what happened to Ritz's racing tactics? He was smart in that 5000m but not running with the leaders and instead running in the very back of the pack because they were going really fast, and then he was just able to hold his pace and PB by a lot. Same thing for the 10000m at Berlin, he held back more than other people like Rupp and then he could just hold that pace. He knew that he couldn't pretend to run with Bekele at the front for the 5000m because that would cost him. But at the Half Marathon World Championships, he then pretends he can run with Tadese. He then pretends he can run with Geb in the Great North run and pretends he can run with the leading pack in the NYC marathon. What happened to the same caution that he used to get the 12:56?
