Bet he regrets doing that track workout now. Was it worth it Ritz?
Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
damn ritz is truly on the injury spin cycle. If he could stay healthy for a few years he could do great things but I don't think he will ever stay healthy and I seriously doubt he will ever be able to run enough mileage to be a great marathoner.
How long until Kara pulls out of Boston? Great job Alberto.
Hall might be onto something with this self coaching idea...

Where did THAT come from?
son of one.....Why the hate on Ritz Come on, tell us?
Maybe I don't get it because I'm not elite but why would he pull out of a race that's in april in january? That seems very premature to me.
yeah exactly my thoughts as well - he just doesn't want to race there or what? London is awesome! And I highly doubt it's because he's injured - that's way too much of an advance pull out in my opinion!
I dont know if I can blame Alberto for this. it was Ritz that decided to do the Track workout. Alberto wants to make sure he gets his sub 207 and realizes that the time from now to april wont be enough to do that. They learned from teh mistake they made with NYC.
It takes a long time to train for a marathon. If you lose 2-3 weeks with an injury you will not be in your best shape (PR shape) by race time.

Alberto I am sure told him to do the track workout.

Probably. I guess the best we could do is speculate.

Most elites \"lose\" 2-3 weeks due to illness or injury during a four month build-up. Those who are lucky enough not to, often wound up burned out.
He may not have been able to train for a few weeks already and face some more weeks. I don\'t think he would pull out b/c of two weeks without running. He has that whole AlterG crap.
Cut a hole in shoes and duct tape them together when the organization that pays the bills is the greatest shoe company in the world with near unlimited resources.
Don't get your team to have flu shots before the season.
Have your star athlete run a long indoor workout in December, 1 month after the NYC marathon, while he is preparing for a marathon in April, after not running indoors in years. Why would he even be doing an indoor workout to begin with?
The lack of common sense from Alberto is mind boggling.

I am also sure he told him to do a track workout. What I am sure he didn't tell him was that if the outdoor track was covered in snow you probably shouldn't head to some small rink-dink indoor track and run 7 miles of intervals when you haven't run on an indoor track in a really long time.
Maybe this is Ritz finally realizing he is a track and cross guy. maybe he can get his injuries healed and jump in US cross. and then rip it up all summer on the track.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
