Does anybody know how fast walk-on 800m, 1600m and 3200m runners are at Stanford? I'm not significantly fast so the coach won't give me the time of day...

don't work about it, you won't get into the school.

thanks for the support
sub 9:17. Sub 4:17 and sub 1:57. But say you ran like 10:10 junior year and then ran 9:23 your senior year you may be able to play that to your advantage.
Oh, do not ask what is it,
Just go to Palo Alto and make a visit.
9:20 and 4:20 are pretty standard for pure distance guys at top D1 schools. If you're more of a middle distance type, I'd say probably like 1:56ish. But don't take my word for it, ask the coach.

it seems like sub 1:57 is much slower than sub 917 and sub 417

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isnt. There are some 9:17 guys who just have no speed and can't crack too. A guy that runs 1:55 with little training could have a lot more upside than somebody that maxes out at like 9:17, even in the 5k. A 1:55 guy with like 0 training could turn out to be a 4:0X miler and a 14 flat 5k guy in the right system. But then there are 1:53 guys who cant do anything in the 400 or the mile and just wont cut it at either for DI.
Does anyone know the walk on standards for womens cross country and/or track at Stanford?
I had a 9:25 and 31:45 guy have the door slammed on him (not literally)recently. In the days of Vin, I had a 4:13 rejected as even a walk on.
If i ran a 4:13 mile and got rejected, I would proceed to take a big shit in lane 1 of the Stanford track and ask the coach to clean it up.

Both went there anyway for the education. It's tough to see a 4:13 guy end his career but he's doing great now in life so it was a good call.
As to women, I had a 10:06 3k girl allowed to walk on but wasn't exactly welcome under Vin. She regularly beat girls in the top 7 but stayed home for the post season nonetheless. Don't know about the current staff. (Other than they're awesome coches.)
When I was running on the farm team there were lots of kids that were 830-850 for 3k walking on. Don't expect to get attention, just ask to train an work your ass off and earn a chance.
There are no set walk on times for the team. The first requirement is that you be able to keep up on runs/workouts. After that the coaches look to see if they might expect you to someday be a guy who could possibly score at conference (think 3:47/14:10/29:20 or faster). To give a rough estimate this would probably be a 4:17/9:20 guy who either hasn't trained much or is improving rapidly. They'll probably also consider your personality and if you would fit in with the team (no use taking a flier on somebody if they're a d*ck). To be frank the coaches (at least on the guys side) are not really interested in having a bunch of walk-ons and a very large team. They want to be able to give the guys that they have recruited the time and energy they need to be successful.
If you're willing to reveal your e-mail address I could tell you a bit more.
A girl I know of with a pretty decent 5K PR, but mediocre track times, was told she had to run the mile in under 5 minutes to be allowed to walk on.
From Coach Dunn; we look for the times below from those whom we would proactively recruit:
800 = 1:53
1600 = 4:12
3200 = 9:10
sub 4:50 for girls.
My friend is not fast and she emailed Stanford and Head Coach Patti-Sue Plummer replied with the times for walk ons. The 1600 time is the only one I remember. Just shoot them an email and she'll respond!
