david barmasai win 2:07:18
is that the same david barmasai who was the national JUCO champ in the steeple for western iowa junior college in 2008?
Whew.....reading up to 30k was thrilling. That was quite a drop off. Sorry I was late to the party, haha.
the last 5K was 16:50. Gebreselassie's WR is not as easy as people thought it was.
This is the first race outside of Kenya for David Barmasai, as far as I can tell. He won the Nairobi marathon in 2:10 last fall, as a 23-year-old.
No, the one who won Kass FM marathon 2009 in Eldoret and Standard Chartered Nairobi 2010 (21031). Trains under William Kiplagat around Kaptagat, Global athlete
special props to the swedish girl who finished 3rd in an excellent 2:23:41, the only western runner who was willing to mix it up with the africans in a race where she had to EARN her money as the race did not offer appearance money.
USA and other european runners should follow her example.

Isabella is from Kisii (Kenya), lives and trains in Eldoret (Kenya), but started running when via marriage she became Swedish. Nevertheless, the Swedish athletes who train in Iten at the moment, are very proud of her.
Me personally I am proud of the ladies 1-2-4-9 and 10 finishing, Iten is doing good for them!
Nobody talked about the return of lidya cheromei who has been out there running since the mid 90s ... amazing performance in 2nd place.

she won world junior xc at age 13 now at age 33 run 2:23.01 in the marathon, incredible longevity at a high level, and proving age group stars dont all burn out.
Defending champions target Olympic Qualifications. Aselefech Mergia is returning but she dropped out of London and Daegu. Hopefully Atsede Baysa run Osaka Women's Marathon instead.
It's hard to tell who's going to be on London Marathon Team. I heard it's based primarily on time. Baysa needs to better 2:22:02 to get selected. Evens if Baysa runs 2:22:42 course record it's not enought to get selected. Please run Osaka and better the 2:21:18 course record. Baysa will face strong Japanese presence.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
