What pick?
What pick?
Hopefully to Dallas or Oakland, so I can continue to root against him.
he needs to go to penitentary! - what a criminal!
Somewhere in the second round.
Nobody wants another JaMarcus Russell
Minimum middle 2nd round to avoid a huge pay cut.
Well, Newton was certainly never going to finish school.
Second round for sure. He did himself no favors in the game against Oregon. He wasn't dominate. He was stoppable. He made some poor throws.
My guess is that he work hard to prepare for the game. He was too wrapped up with himself after winning the Heisman Trophy.
I see Newton as a combination of Vince Young (does like studying the game), JaMarcus Russel (doesn't like preparing for a game), and Matt Leinart (parties too much, has no focus).
Grrr, I meant to say: ...he DID NOT work hard to prepare for the game...
newton's a high first rounder, mark my words. there is no way that a physical specimen like that of prototypical size or even game changing size, a winner (in football, not outside football), with amazing stats in the SEC, is going in the second round. even tebow went in the first round, despite his throwing issues, and looks like he can play in this league.
i printed your words. put them on the ground outside. my dog marked them. my dog has given his opinion, his way.

Add Cincinnati and I agree.
Thankfully, nfl scouts don't look at just one game to decide the future of a player, otherwise, Newton would fall far in the draft. He missed 2 for sure touchdowns in the championship game and a bad interception. He did make some very good throws as well, including a deep pass/bad drop on the first possession. The fumble was more of a great play by Matthews. All in all, if that was the only game you saw of him, he looked average at best. He proved the entire season that he is a strong armed, accurate passer.
He is no JaMarcus Russell. They may be the same size, had similar accuracy (very high) and are black but Newton doesn't appear lazy, won't hold out as long as JR did and can actually run (around 1500yds to JR's 150 their last ncaa seasons).
He will most likely go 1st round.
Cam Newton is an absolute first round prospect. He's huge, has a strong arm, and he can run. Like a previous poster said, as a physical specimen, he's almost ideal and there will be a team in the first round who will take a chance on him. There might be some questions about his work ethic, but I don't think he'll be as bad as JaMarcus Russell in that respect. JR was a joke.
My Carolina Panthers have the first overall pick, and we might be interested in a new QB, but I doubt the Panthers are interested in Newton. It seems like they are interested in continuing to develop Clausen and want to get a new OC and QB coach to help him out. Still, Newton will go in the mid-to-late first round.
I think it depends on how much of V.Y. Cam has in him...
Similar scenario, nutty obsessed parent and a lot of pure athletic talent and hype. Deadly combo these days.
Here's the top ten order. This class is heavy on defensive guys and pretty much everyone on the list needs help on that side of the ball.
I still say he goes in the top ten... Worst case scenario Snyder has proved his a dumbass time and time again.
# Carolina (2-14)
# Denver (4-12)
# Buffalo (4-12)
# Cincinnati (4-12)
# Arizona (5-11)
# Cleveland (5-11)
# San Francisco (6-10)
# Tennessee (6-10)
# Dallas (6-10)
# Washington (6-10
Quarterback needy draft, and Cam will grade out as one of the top three quarterbacks. The lowest he will go is in the 10-14 range. I think he could go as high as 7. I think he is a bust waiting to happen. Nobody has any idea if he has the ability to read NFL defenses and make NFL offensive plays simply because he was not asked to do so in college.
Carolina or Buffalo... he'll be a top 3 pick, and Denver isn't going to pick up another QB after taking Time Tebow. Buffalo needs a franchise QB right now, but they will never step up until they fix their O-line, and by fix I mean get one.
He'll be a mid 1st round pick, maybe top 10, not top 5. He will fail in the NFL to have any continued success as his character is lacking and he has a sense of entitlement. He will produce some highlights and win some games, but his team (if he ever becomes a regular starter) will never be a Super Bowl contender.
No way does Buffalo draft Newton, he's a great college player, but that's it. He runs too much to stay healthy long enough to ever develop into a franchise quarterback. Besides we got HAAAVVAAADDDDD grad Ryan Fitzpatrick under center!!!!
Auburn will be on probation in 6 months.
He will go in the first round - #12 pick to the Vikings.
