VT Word,
Haha, not sure who this is but it could only be one of a few people. Maybe if I get through this month, next month could be the Bob Andrews Racing Team Mile Challenge.
Would be cool to keep this streak through the winter and get a video of a running a mile on the Airport runway in VT in the summertime.'
"Guys, yea, mile, yea, dinner? Dinner? Dinner at five, yea, sound good. Run, shower, dinner, dinner guys, five o' clock. Everyone showered, there are plenty of showers, dinner, guys, five, yea, dinner."

Kyaks anyone?

Track would be cool. I do plan to do a few on a track. I basically run all out each day and would do the same on the track. Would be interesting to see the time.

JoeMac, i'm loving this and read more of your blog, it's pretty good man keep it up.
i read you want to throw down a 2:25 soon, i hope you do. you sound like an old-fashioned tough bastard haha. -
Thanks man. Yea probably this Spring I will give it a go. A few of my college training partners have run inside 2.25 and I would like to join them.
Thats what it is all about man: live hard---work hard and play hard. Life is all about a good laugh at the day. Oh, and a proper pint as well.
Get the miles in and keep pounding the asphalt, or if you are lucky enough, the dirt trails. -
“Some of the Old Timers, some of us may have stopped working them hard. But I tell you what, I’m going back to it. You can’t do that [train with low volume and be successful]. Back with [Pete] Sherry, [John] Trautman, and [Steve] Holman, we were busting it every day. I’m going back to that.”

I love this. It really does take hard work. Someone "tough as nails" to run 150 miles a week and just balls to the wall. I'd love to see you pop a good marathon in the spring...the only problem will be throwing down that sub-5 mile the day before, during, and after....
-
My Bennu Teammate,
Ha, ha, didn't give that one much thought yet. That would be sick and would need some filming.....sub 5 mile day before marathon, sub 5 during, and the next day...ouch! Ahh, I'll try it.
Hey in Steamtown I dropped a sub 5.10. -
Sub-5 the day after a marathon? Good luck.

Trial of Miles

Weather looks good today: 40 Degrees, Sunny, and only a 9 MPH breeze.
I, however, and not even looking forward to running this following my run. I am trying to convince myself it is only 5 minutes, but it truly is 5 minutes of torture. The legs and body get a little more tired each day, not to mention the mental aspect of having this loom over my 40/80 double today. -
Do you see a breakthrough coming in the future? Do you think that at some point it will just be routine and the mile will feel easy? Your time has gone down each day, and the weather has seemingly gotten worse each day. With today looking like it will be pretty nice, maybe it won't be so bad.

This ruins it. Do it on an outdoor track. -

How does that ruin it? If anything it makes it more difficult. I don't know if you read the whole thread but he is doing it with a garmin, so it is an accurate mile. Running it on a track woult be so much easier than running on the roads. -
mecca would be proud , what a great coach he is!!!.... NOT

Hey Joe Mac I like this idea it's pretty cool. I did something similar to this with a buddy once but it only lasted a week. Maybe you will adapt quickly, hope you do.
Where in MD do you live? I live in Baltimore county so If you needed someone to film this adventure I'd be willing if you aren't too far. -
Yea man, I live in Anne Arundel County, just moved here. I am hoping my body adapts, but right now it seems like each day I feel a little worse. I always knew I was training too much, too hard when I could sleep anywhere during the day but not at night in my bed. Last night I actually had some trouble sleeping.
-
Do we have a time for today yet?
-
Heading out now for my training run. I got delayed today for over an hour thanks to Maryland's finest...I just updated the blog...www.joemacruns.blogspot.com
The good news...I have a partner to run with today. He won't be doing the mile (hopefully he can take a pic of me running today), but we will are heading out for about 80-90 minutes today. I will put it up as soon as I get back. -

The rain looks nasty, but if he runs with the wind I think he can go 4:40.
This is the best reason for doing it on the track; to eliminate environomental influences that both help and hinder.
That said I love the concept and hope you can keep the streak alive for as long as possible.
