Which men's conference performance was more impressive this weekend? Stanford's 1-2-3 at Pac 10's or Ok. State's 1-2-3-4 at Big 12's? I am leaning towards Stanford's performance, considering how strong the Pac 10 is, but Ok. State is going to be hard to beat if they can keep their quartet together at nationals.
I'd say OK state.
What's more impressive, 4th in the Big 12, or 9th in the PAC10? What's more impressive, losing to AJ Acosta by 5 seconds, or beating Colorado's top guy by 8 seconds?
I'd say OK State, cause I'd take Bosshard over AJ over 8k
Card's SIXTH man is only SIX seconds behind AJ. Too close to call, but I'll take the Cards on desire. They are hungry as hell from last year.

It's one thing to run with your teammates and dominate in your conference, it's another when you are at nationals and getting elbowed and taken out of your rhythm. It takes one trip or bad landing and suddenly your #2 or #3 guy could be in 177th place getting strung out.
I guarantee you neither team will be imposing their will up front like they have been. People like Chalenga and Mcneill will have something to say about that. Furthermore - I think the weaker of the top runners from each team (Jake Riley and Tom Farell) might push a bit too hard to maintain with the top guys and fade badly (see AJ Acosta at Pac 10s).

Acosta did fade because he went a bit over his head. Even still that was one of his best races in XC with Oregon, and much improved upon his other races this year.
He seems to be coming into his own, and we might see a bit more of him running that pace even longer come regionals/nationals regardless of the longer distance. He raced until about July 18th in the summer i believe, which i think is later than any of the other Oregon or Stanford guys...so he might start showing what he got a bit later than the others.
I agree about AJ, he's only had 3 months to recover, and got 8th place at the conference meet.
That's quite an outstanding result considering he doesn't have much ability.
