Ok, I'm a little skeptical of the validity of this post. Not because I don't think a potential 2:08 guy wouldn't post here, but c'mon...counting miles walked with your dog as weekly mileage? And I googled "Ben Kipkurui", and according to IAAF, he hasn't run a race since 2008.
I'm surprised our weekly thread has escaped the LetsRun trolls for this long, it was only a matter of time.
Anyway, back to the thread...
marmite - Good to hear from you again! You've picked a pretty bad time to be hurt for the first time in your running career. You still have time to give 2:30 another shot, and we'll be here to follow it!
Dan the Masters Man - Excellent 10k time! You should be able to go with the 3:10 group no problem according to that 10k...just be careful, don't pull away too soon, it could come back to hurt you. Good luck this weekend!
des - The marathon is all about endurance, and it looks like you've got plenty of that. Personally, I'm a fan of the steep, extreme taper (10 days - 2 weeks long). But if you would like to experiment with a long, gradual taper, your plan does look pretty solid....but again, not something I would do. It's good to experiment a little in the marathon, not only to find out what works for you, but also, what doesn't work.
