Was it Sue Hech?
"She'd been drinking too much eggnog...", but that's why "they should NEVER give a license, to a man who drives a sleigh and plays with elves"
It's crazy but it happens every so often it seems. Back in 2000 I was running an XC race in Allentown PA and the runner right in front of me was nailed by a deer who darted across the course. She was knocked off her feet and off the trail, which was about 6 feet wide! The worst part was that after I stopped to make sure she was conscious, I had to run to the nearest coach (20 feet away) and ask him to help her before I continued. You'd think that one of the coaches right there on the trail might notice and care. Then after the race my own coach said, that was very nice of you, but don't stop next time.
Indeed, next time that happens, be sure to stomp your opponent, both figuratively and literally. That's what they would do to you.
