North Central College in Illinois
Okay, let's get real...Schools like Colby, Bowdoin, Tufts, Bates, etc.....have extremely high academic standards. I am sorry but with bad high school grades and a 3.1 GPA won't get you into a school such as those, these schools are extremely rigorous and focus more on academics than athletics.
Blatant Allegheny trolling two posts above. Did you think that no one would notice that? I have never even heard of that place.
In any event, the obvious answer to the OP's question is Chico. Not D3, obviously, but a joke academically with a very strong running program. They may even be better than your D1 squad, which would defeat the purpose of transferring. But we are working with limited information here.
Oh man I totally understand. There have been some beastly academic schools mentioned in here. I have found a few schools that I plan to add to the list and I never would have if it were not for letsrun. Thanks again gents.
No, NCC isn't that bad why does everyone assume they are so awful.

there are tons of d3 schools out there. get yourself a fisk guide. or just look through the us news rankings and start up when you stop recognizing the names. or look at xc results from nationals and pick a team from the bottom of the list. this list of results is pretty handy:
http://www.ustfccca.org/assets/weekly-results/div3-byregion-team-scores-101110.pdfdon't know if anyone has mentioned st. lawrence, but they are decent but not good academically and good at xc. Other names in a broadly similar situation that I didn't see posted -- Willamette, Oberlin, Kenyon, Earlham, Rochester, Worcester Polytech, Kalamazoo College.
Kenyon?? Oberlin?? Willamette??? Those are all solid schools. Even Rochester isn't bad. Tier 2 isn't a bad school.
