I know its not awesome, but it's his first meet. If he stays healthy could he break 26 by the end of the year?

Depends on the course... if it was run on one like Chile Pepper, Notre Dame, or Louisville, than probably not. However, if it was on a more challenging course, perhaps.
there are a lot more variables that need to be given. Like HS mileage, HS pr's. Mileage from this past summer, current mileage, how he has progressed, age, was the course fast, will there be a faster course
yeah, its hard to tell in cross since so many courses are different.
my freshman year last year i ran 26:48 or so first race, which was above average in difficulty, and ended in a 25:42 on a very fast course less than 2 months later.
hs prs: 1600: 4:17 3200:9:29 5000 XC: 15:38. 18 years old, OSU Cowboy Jamboree.
I'd say yes, cause I've heard that's a tough course. Using converters he is only 70 seconds behind what he would be "guesstimated" to run for 8k and I'm guessing his 5k pr is from a very fast course.
that course is 25 sec slow or more in some cases.
dont get too excited about the accuracy of XC courses. Maybe it was 7.7k or maybe it was 8.2k

You're in COLLEGE.
i would give adam porter a 3% chance of breaking 26 this year
He will get injured and pr by only 5 seconds in his junior year.
