That's right, Brett Favre drives a big diesel truck, doesn't he?

Uh oh!
Anyone have the little dick pics that Brett Favre emailed ? I like little boys mostly.
You can tailgate teenage girls and little old ladies and show you are a big man !

I believe the "on demand" you refer to is the feature that allows you to lock the vehicle into 4wd mode. All other times it is front wheel drive and will shift into all/4 mode when it detects slippage. I may be mistaken, but do not believe so.

You might be right; I don't know. In all honesty, I don't own a Ridgeline or sport a COEXIST bumper sticker. The "Old Fat Dude" moniker doesn't belong to me, either. I simply lifted it for the purpose of generating varied responses for graduate research.
I'm in the midst of researching information for my graduate thesis in criminology, and anonymous forums such as this one are fertile ground for examples of inferiority complex-driven agressiveness. It's really quite interesting the lengths people will go to in the effort to prove they're "right" and belittle others in the process. The white hot vitriol almost always dwarfs the provocation. My thesis advisor loves the idea.
My apologies to the real Old Fat Dude, whomever you may be, and thanks to all who unwittingly participated in this portion of the study. I'll be around again, anonymously, of course.

Study's not scientific
In my own experience about 80percent of people who drive pickup trucks are aholes
So they are about the same as MB,BMW or prius owners?

It is primarily a front wheel drive platform (with all wheel drive that kicks in when needed), no real truck is front wheel drive.Common feature on the CRV and Element, but I don't know if it's offered on any of the Ridgeline models. Granted the bed isn't very long, but it's a nice crew cab with very capable hauling and towing capacity.
Actually I think all Ridgeline are front wheel drive (automatically all-wheel drive at lower speeds), with on demand 4WD. And to the person who mentioned the plywood, the Honda Ridgeline does carry 4x8 plywood lying flat. The bed is a short one, so you'd need to put the tailgate down (optionally containing the sheets with a bed extender cage).
While a lot of truck snobs don't like the Ridgeline, I've found it to be a wonderful vehicle. The roomy passenger compartment seats five just fine. The rear seats fold up to allow plenty of room for electronics or whatever you're hauling (can fit a bike in there OK with the front wheel off). The in bed trunk is dry, lockable, and another great place for hauling electronics and whatnot. The gas mileage could be better (average combined ~18mpg city/highway when not towing), but that's what you get when you need something that can haul a 5000lb boat/trailer combo.
On top of it's utility, it rides very smoothly (very car-like), and is very comfortable to drive.
I just wish that they made a diesel version.
I used to have a Subaru Brat (car w/ pickup bed) and liked it. That bed came in handy countless times. Subaru replaced it with the 'Baja' which didn't sell even to lesbians. I am convinced that the Baja didn't sell only because it was so butt ugly, but the poor sales probably soured them on the whole concept of car w/ bed.
There was a made-in-India small pickup called the 'Mahindra' that was supposed to come to the US. 30 mpg or so. It would have been perfect for me. However it had a diesel engine and apparently our wise & wonderful gov't has made it all but impossible to import diesels.
In the meantime I am stuck with a humongous pickup truck that is bigger than I need or want, and strangely induces people to wrongly believe that I am an a-hole. There is a name for such people, we call them 'Obama voters.'
MB, BMW or prius owners are cool
Pickup truck owners are not.
Show some class/ballerness. Ask the ladies. SAd but true
Dodge Rampage
Plymouth Scamp
VW Rabbit Sportruck
I meant sleep in it when you're not busy driving it, preferably with a canopy. Agreed, riding in back is a poor idea.
Great camping option in bear country, BTW.
If you don't ever get to bear country, I can understand how you could wonder about utility of a pickup.
Most pickups are way too large. Nothing is more irritating than to see some monster F-350 or some such with an empty bed crammed into two spaces in a shopping center parking lot or sticking out into a downtown traffic lane from a diagonal parking spot.
Lots of people buy them to feel safer, and in a collision with a smaller vehichle, they are, but in a collision with something stationary like a tree or bridge abuttment, you'd be safer in a Mini Cooper.
If you have to ask a question like that you've either:
(1) Never done a lick of manual labor in your life
(2) Never moved out of your parents house into your own place which needs to be furnished
(3) Likely never been with a woman (cause it's pretty clear you lack a Y chromosome)
cheers!
Currently I drive a 4x4 Tacoma, which I bought because I live in Houston and even a brief rainstorm can cause some areas to flood very quickly, so I wanted that extra heighth and the ability to drive up on a median or the side of an overpass should I need to. Also, the truck is super handy (I operate a small theater company), although the small cab is annoying at times. The downside is that people often ask me to help them move. I rarely use the 4x4, but I like knowing it's there. I think this is my mid-life crisis vehicle, because it's what I wanted when I was 18, which was a long time ago.
We Nevadans love our trucks....mainly AMERICAN trucks. My Dad owns 2 Fords, an F150 and an F250. I no longer own a car or truck, but I owned a Ford Ranger 4x4 before.
In a regular car, you can't haul a lot of stuff, camp out in the back, or drive off road. In Nevada we have a lot of dirt roads.
Do you know what the 2nd biggest market for pick-up trucks is? (next to the USA)....It's THAILAND. Seriously.
Trucks come in handy when people that ask questions like this need a ride they can ride in the bed of the truck as opposed to in the car with you.
What's the purpose of a bazooka as opposed to a pistol?
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!!!!!
You guys are some teeth bearing, mindless barracudas!
My try: What's the difference between the guy's post above me as opposed to the OP? Brilliance!! Sorry pistol porridge palm-swearing Patricia, the bazooka has nothing on the trap-setting tranny-toting truck man-question.
