I'll say a huge PR in 7:42
If 7:42 is the best he can do in a 3k, then he can't run sub-13 in a 5k. Based on the fitness I saw in Stockholm, I would say Rupp is definitely in sub-7:40 3k shape. If the conditions are decent, this race is going to be won in around 7:29 and if Rupp is even close to the lead pace, he will run around 7:37.
His 2k split from last weeks 5k was 5:07. He is much faster than 7:37. If the pacing is fast (~5:00), he can hang off the back and easily do 7:32-33.
very simple, Rupp should be running as fast or faster than Solinsky's 7:36/37 from a couple of years ago when CS was a 13:12 type, anything above that would not look quite right, I don;t think, if fractions are fast enough on front end.

Okay I can admit I was wrong I forgot about the indoor 5k, I was thinking only of outdoors, I stand corrected. However, to say that Rupp or Solinsky for that matter picked it up after 7:46 last week is false and if you did the math you would see that. At best they kept it the same. The two kilometers from 2k to 4k were each 2:39- 2:40. The final kilometer that he didn't run was picked up, but not the middle two.
you figure it out, rupp was at 7:46high, well off the leaders. at 4000 he moved up over a second and was right on them. might not have been a large drop in pace, but it was a minimal increase. the big point here is that he strided thru 7:46 and was ready for another 2000 at the same pace if not faster. that makes a 7:40 prediction for a flat out diamonld league race pretty stupid.

true, true. he really should be better than that because we all know he's a lot better than 13:12 right now. this talk of 7:40 being a challenge for him is nonsense. he ran 7:44 2 YEARS AGO INDOORS! That was an indoor race when he had an oudtoor ncaa's, usa's and worlds to worry about. he didn't put all his eggs in one basket for that 7:44. wake up people, he is a much better runner now. if he run 7:36 or 7:37, he won't be remotely satisfied and nor should he. if he loses contact with the top 3 it won't happen until the last 200, and they aint puttign 5 seconds on him over 200. wow.
7:43 looks like.
7.43... and should be considered a good run.
Rupp is, and always has been, an endurance beast. 5km is on the bottom end of his range, remember when there was genuine doubt over whether he would run sub 1.50..? ( he did in the end, just). Unless he gets out and runs a ~3.35 1500/ 3.53 mile he isn't going sub 13 and he certainly isn't scaring 7.30.

Seriously, be honest - are you really that ignorant? Do you really think that 7:43 in any way indicates his 3000m capability? That he can't do a 13:00?
Seriously? Or are you just trolling for fun.
I often wonder what folks like you do after their boldly stated limitations of runners are broken. Just move on and pretend you never stated it? Do you ever just feel stupid for having been proven so wrong? Or are you not like other people in that no matter how wrong you are you never feel anything like, "Oh, maybe I should stop saying such stupid things"?

Well are you asking am I ignorant? or that I don't think Rupp can break 13? because they are mutually exclusive in my mind.
Are you asking whether I think an athletes PB is anyway indicative of their ability? Isn't that an outrageous thought. Or is it stupid to extrapolate wildly 1sec+ per lap improvements
I am quite prepared to feel stupid for you if Rupp runs anywhere near 7.30. I don't classify myself as a Rupp hater, more a realist who tempers some of the ridiculous excitement that occurs on here. If Rupp runs 7.35 it should be a surprise and THEN everyone should get excited.
Expecting him to do it, is unrealistic and unfair.

Sub 13 isn't really close to 7:30.
Rupp likely would have run just under or just over 13 mins last week.
DNF!
7:43...
No surprises from Rupp. Sorry fanboys.
He'll run faster maybe not this year.
I love how after every single one of Rupp's races we are shown how much of a pussy he is and how he is not the potential 26:40/12:48/7:30 guy all his fan boy bitches think he is. Sure he's a good runner, but will never even remotely be a threat on the world stage, stop f***ing making excuses for him, he just not that amazing.

Maybe not amazing, but far better than any american ahead of him at 24. I guess none are amazing.
