Does everyone here have alzheimers? Bolt has been injured the majority of the season. Lets see gay beat bolt at something that matters. Bolt says kiss the golds bitch
We're talking about a guy who has run 9.6X while shuttin down and looking around as a teenager.
Now he can barely break 10.0, gets his ass kicked by the winner and can barely hold off the rest of the field. This guys used to win by 10 meters!
Wake up and smell that poo in your diaper. The guy ate some bad yams. Or something else changed.
Gay has been injured a ton in the last 12 months, it's not for injury.
The 100M is a short sprint. You have to be focused and ready to run. In a short sprint it matters not if you are the fastest man. You can have a bad day lose focus and lose a race. Bolt has the world lead 9.82 but had a bad day today. I don't know though if he can be ready for the Brussels meet in another 2 to 3 weeks but that one will be interesting to watch.
My own uniformed opinion is that Bolt has become somewhat complacent with his invincible status. He is on top of the world, so he may have tried only 95% in training to Gay's 100%. Both have been injured, yes.
I'm very glad to see Gay win, he deserves it. I'll be very excited to see the next rematch. I'm sure Bolt will have some new motivation in training now that he's been knocked of the top of the mountain, even if it is only 1 step down.
the ignorance here is incredible.
was it just me or did bolt look like he's packed on some mass? he didn't look as smooth as usual, as if he was carrying some extra weight.
You guys have clearly not seen Rocky IV

BEATS BOLT!
If there is something positive that came out of this race, other than Tyson Gay's confidence level being boosted, it is the fact that we didn't get to see Usain Bolt's cockiness. I am such a happy person for that!
Bolt's antics can really turn one off! It is so refreshing to see him contained, at least for now. Tyson Gay made him eat the humble pie and to see Bolt explain time and again that he has always said that he is beateable is a whiff of fresh air. I love Tyson Gay, calm, cool and colleced. HE is the epitome of equanimity in both defeat and victory.
People need to watch out for Walter Dix. I think Asafa Powell might never get another medal in his life unless he steps up his performance. HE is a perennial underarchiever in the big meets.
Tyson Gay needs to clean Usain Bolt's plate again. That will make the media focus more attention on him.
What a sh*t is being talked here about Bolt on drugs. If you guys think Bolt has some more mass on him; you're right, and that extra mass isn't muscle (look at his face and compare it to the 2009 and 2008 Bolt). Guy just didn't train properly, and why should he?? He hasn't got sh*t to prove (especially this season) and has a tough 2 years coming up with defending all of his titles. If he isn't allowed to slack off a bit now, then forget about the man ever running near his best in the future. Not that he has physical problems, but none of us can even closely imagin what it means to have the world at your feet for 2 years already, whie being only 23!
The one athlete I was surprised with from a 'mass' point of view was Tyson; maybe his coach finally agrees to the fact that without sufficient muscle development that body of his won't be able to run 9.7's and 9.8's for much longer.
We'll see Bolt back again next year, no doubt about that.
Gay winning was a huge positive for men's sprinting and in the long run, better for Bolt's career as well. People love a rivalry. It gets boring when it's a foregone conclusion that Bolt is going to win by 10 meters without breaking a sweat. I was even starting to think, "yeah, whatever Bolt, you go ahead and sail through another race; I'll read about it later". Sure, certain domination is fun the first couple of times, but it gets old.
Now that people see it is possible to beat Bolt, there will always be suspense -- and that's what keeps an audience interested.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
