I've noticed that usually guys do this but based on this thread it seems everyone's full of s**t... From my experience the fake times usually come at parties, and usually from people who have never run one competitive race in their lives. As soon as I tell a guy I'm a runner they immediately tell me their best time. Usually after a few drinks get in them. Its always something that can never be proven and its almost always the mile...for example "yeah I just wanted to see how fast I could go one day and I went 4:03" And because I'm not a good person I usually like catching them in their lies..so I'll say "oh really? Thats really fast, that would've won our state meet this year" And because they aren't real runners that never phases them. And they never have spikes on if you ask them that.."No I don't have spikes just my sneakers, not really a big runner just wanted to see how fast I could go" So a solo 4:05 mile in trainers? Not bad at all. Another fun thing to do is say.."Oh was that a 1600 or a full mile" and everyone of them to a person will say.."Oh it was a full mile" So a solo 4:05 in trainers and they aren't real runners but damn if they don't know to start 9 meters back for a full mile.
