How many real Americans are under 13?

Ahem...you were wrong!

1 MERGA, Imane ETH 12:53.81 PR 5 1
2 BEKELE, Tariku ETH 12:53.97 2 3
3 LAGAT, Bernard USA 12:54.12 AR 1 5
4 ROTICH, Lucas Kimeli KEN 12:55.06 PR
5 CHEPKOK, Vincent Kiprop KEN 12:56.32 2 3

9 DABA, Bekana ETH 12:58.51 PR
10 KOMON, Leonard Patrick KEN 12:59.15
pretty good call if you ask me!

Ritz, Solinsky, Kennedy.
The pace was all over the pace and slowed tremendously with 2:37 and 2:38 for the 3rd and 4th kilometer. The field did great running the last kilometer with a +1.6 headwind on the backstraight. Look like there will be a few guys under 12:50 with the right conditions and pacing later this year.
1.) I Merga 12:53.3
2.) Tariku Bekele 12:53
3.) Bernard Lagat 12:54.12 AMERICAN RECORD
6.) Chris Solinsky 12:56.66
Better pacing it appears the top seven who all finished strongly will improve on this fartlek type race LOL!

Haha, you are making conclusions in your own mind. Wonderful!
Where else would anybody make conclusions? YOU ARE AN IMBECILE. I suppose you morons think Solinsky swallowed his adrenaline pills before this race so that he could run 12:56. Go back to school...

Not surprising. It's still a race and pace almost always slows when a rabbit drops out. These guys get paid for winning.
It's gonna be nice to go back on this thread and see how many said there wouldn't be an American Record and that neither would break 13:00. WHAT?
Perfect reason here why people like Ventolin should be ignored permanently. Total lack of experience.
The only question was whether Lagat was going to be able to hold onto the pace. Sub-13 for CS was in the bag from the 26:59, as I said above. Now the question is how long Chris can ride his peak, and whether he will regenerate and be able to run at Zurich at peak levels.
Just don't do what Webb did (not do) in 2007.
It appears that Lagat becomes the second fastest man over the age of 30 ever (Brahim Lahlafi ran 12:49.28 at age 31), and the fastest over the age 35 (that record appears to have been held by John Kibowen of Kenya, running a 13:01.69 at age 35 in 2004)
With this 12:54 under his belt, do you think that Lagat has a shot at the american masters 5k record in 5 years?

I agree and look forward to seeing what nonesense Ven3 comes up with in regards to his MISS assestment of the race and outcome of the AR. Anyone think the American Record will go down even further by Bernard or Chris later this year?
CONGRATULATIONS to Bernard Lagat 12:54.12 American Record and Chris Solinsky 12:56.66 3rd fastest American ever at 5000m.
Anyone know how many men have actually run sub 27 minutes 10000m and 13 minute 5000m in less than a month apart?

Please shut up as you two should stick to junior varisty track in which you probably know alittle about and not elites. Two athletes who already ran 12:51 this season will be in the race and Lagat routintely outkicks Eluid Kipchoge (who ran 12:51 this year already). Eliud can request pacesetters for a designated pace and I'm sure he's gonna want to try and break away from or burn the speed out of Bernard Lagat.
So yeah 12:50 has alot to do with it- wake up or shut up!
Will you remind us now what 12:50 has to do with it?
how many times did bekele actually race a 10k for time when we was in his prime?? that's right - 3 times. 2004 when he ran 26:20 (wr), 2005 when he ran 26:17 (wr), and 2008 when he ran 26:25 (very close to the wr). the rest of the 10ks he's run 2004 or later have been in the olympics or wc and were not run for time but to win. every time he raced it for time he broke a wr or was near the wr.
ehh???
what crap are you driveling on about ???
i said assuming sol was in at worst 26'50 shape for even-pace & likely 3'34/3'35 shape, which a comparator like farah has run from a previous 3'37/3'38, then using
http://www.jundo.co.uk/with 3'34 - 3'35/26'50 ->
12'51.51 - 12'52.73
for "perfect even pace potential"
now moron, i assume it escaped your notice he ran 12'56.66 with some pathetic field clockings of 2'37 & 2'38 for 3rd & 4th km, which to his calibre is "jogging"
what do ya thunk he wouda run off even pace ???
you can have a use - dig up his splits & i'll work out his "even-pace for today"
moron
i've seen just about every great euro circuit race which was on satellite since mid-'80s, including every big golden league race since mid-'90s on satellite
have you ?
moron
bernie has won the 3k indoors twice
look up how many of those champs in last 15y haven't run <13'00 in same season
i hope you are not jack daniels, beacause if you are, you have some serious senility/stoopidity issues...
