It's already announced Bernard Lagat is after the AR in the 5000m to be held June 4 at Bislett with Chris Solinksy in the field as well. Who do you think will break the Dathan's AR in the 5000m comes June 4: Bernard or Chris?

neither. I think the current record survives

I tend to agree, however if it is broken, it will be Lagat.
I would tend to doubt CS being that consistent and having another magical pressure free race in near perfect conditions...
The fun thing is, we will hopefully get to see what happens...barring injury, illness, or dodging by either athlete...
neither...It probably requires a winning time of 12.50 or faster and i don't think anybody is capable of that now (Kipchoge ran sub-par over 1500m in Ostrava - did he peak in
Doha??????). I hope both dip under 13. oh yeah, i will be there.
Considering that the meet record is Bekele's 12:52 in 2003, I'd say it probably won't require a "12:50 or faster" to win.In any case, the problem for Solinsky getting the AR is that he'll have to not only run that fast but also get separation from Lagat. I could see this race going like the 10k in Stanford, where Solinsky gets to play the Rupp character.

can this be watched somewhere
I think the conditions at race time will play large factor...
If conditions are good, a third or fourth place finish could still get the AR.

Sure. It's a Diamond League meet, right? Should be on Universal Sports on your cable or satellite system for free, and if not, check their website for a feed.
the record depends on the whether, as for the race, i'll bet on solinksky taking over the race at about 600 and coming in second to an east african to be named later
With great pacing and favorable weather
12:54.09 Bernard Lagat
12:54.58 Chris Solinsky
Watch Oslo meet on Universal Sports.
TOTALLY Stacked field. Perfect situation for Solinsky and Lagat, assuming conditions permit:

An AR record being set is about as likely as Marissa Miller blowing me while Bar Rafaeli tongues my asshole, and Keira Knightley sits on my face.
Questioning the logistics on this one. If someone was sitting on your face how could Bar get to your asshole?
Not sure how that sexual act is even physically possible to execute. But I guess it must be because I think CS has a good shot at beating Ritz's time. Whether that will be ahead of Lagat I don't know.

12:51.03 Bernard Lagat for the win
12:52.46 Chris Solinsky for 4th
Lagat may do it. I don't think CS can even break 13. Not that he won't in the future, but his PR in shorter distances in no way indicate he is capable of sub 12:55 like everyone on this board thinks
After his 10000m debut it certainly stamps into many people's mind that Chris Solinsky is in better shape this year than ever. You don't debut in the 10000m and close with a 1:56 800m if your conditioning is the same as when you set the below personal best:
Chris Solinsky personal best prior to his 10000m AR debut
1500 Metres.......3:37.27.......Oordegem 07/07/2007
One Mile..........3:57.80.......Madison, WI 06/05/2006
3000 Metres.......7:36.90.......Sheffield 15/07/2007
Two Miles.........8:15.77.......Eugene, OR 08/06/2008
5000 Metres.......13:12.24......Heusden-Zolder 28/07/2007
---
10,000 Metres.....26:59.60......Palo Alto, CA 01/05/2010
Certainly any and all of those personal best in the shorter distances could and will fall if he just runs mulitiple races overseas.

Huh? Chris' 1500 and 3000 PRs are like 3 seconds faster than Ritz. If Ritz can run 12:56, then there is nothing showing that Chris can't run 12:55 in the right race considering his amazing conditioning right now.

Don't think you understood his post. He said that to get the record, it would take having a race with a winning time of 12:50. He didn't think the race would actually be won in 12:50.
Still wrong. Is he suggesting that Lagat can't win, or can't kick hard in a race won in 12:55? Furthermore, Solinsky just showed that he can finish a longer race in 1:56 from the front.
Not that I expect the AR to fall, but it's not out of the question -- and 12:50 has nothing to do with it.
