Ramsey (SLU) is running at Nationals (5k/10k) and he was not included in the first tally. He was probably just to pre-occupied wit j-ing to to all his little Geneseo pals going to nationals to notice he didn't do his research

Geneseo had one of the best top 5 for 5k times in the history of the Atlantic region this year.
14:28
14:29
14:32
14:51
15:00
Their 1500 wasn't bad either:
3:52
3:53
3:53
3:58
4:00
4:02
4:02
I'm on the Geneseo team.
I don't have any comments about what's been said so far (I only read the first page and a half or so), I just want to say that if you asked ANY members of our XC team if they regretted coming to Geneseo or if they would rather be at another school, you would receive a unanimous "No." Everyone on our team loves it here, every single one. Personally, I can't imagine myself being anywhere else. The school and the team are perfect for me.
I stand by this 100%.
You can see how well the team continues every year by continuing to break their top ten school records every year:
what happened at nats
None of the Atlantic Regional guys fared well. O'connor, Berube, Heyman, Chichester and Ramsey all ran poorly.
Lang from UR might disagree with you.
Guarino ran very well also.
It was pretty hot during the 5k, around 85 degrees. They still underperformed though, probably too hard of an effort at SUNYAC's

for the 5k/10k - Plattsburgh
you'll thank me later
I ran for the SUNYAC also. I know the coach's from both of these teams and while this statement is brief, it's 100% true and probably the best advice/info on this thread. While SUNY G does receive some outstanding recruits, some who manage to avoid burning out and become decent NCAA runners, the other two programs differ. They may receieve 1-2 semi-talented recruits a year, but if you look at the majority of the athletes' times from high school and compare them to their later collegiate PR's and accomplishments, these programs are FAR better in terms of long-term development. In fact, if you look at some of Plattsburgh's All-Americans, you will find that many of them did not even have mediocre times in HS. The best thing you can do is take the time to speak to the coach yourself. You will get a feel for what time of person he/she is by meeting with them. You can't learn that much about a program on this message board.
so if i want to improve in college i shouldnt go to suny g?

Many people who go to SUNY G improve. Many don't. What you need and how you fit into the team will determine that. That's why so many people on here have suggested you meet with the coach/es of whatever schools you look at.
Geneseo has the same amount of people who develop and don't develop as any other school, they're just more under the radar.
There are many factors besides the school which determine whether or not an athlete will improve:
-amount/intensity of training in HS
-the priority of running in college for the individual athlete, compared to academics, partying, working, etc
-how invested the athlete is in the sport - a talented runner can succeed in HS with minimal work ethic, which is not the case in college
"Under the radar" - referring to recruits of some of other SUNYAC/AR teams
i heard big genny is getting narvaro from fredonia. Anyone clarify?

If you really look at which coach is the best at making people faster there's no way you'd go to Geneseo. Geneseo does a great job recruiting and in the end they do go to nationals a lot however it should also be known that they get some of the best recruits in the region and they on average just dont improve that much from highschool comparatively speaking.

examples? Everyone is saying they don't improve, but no one is naming anyone or providing numbers.
you should just go to the school that fits you academically, not athletically.
yea, what 430miler said.
who is this new recruit people are talking about from fredonia?
chichester and henchen were about 10:00 in the 3200 in HS and ran 14:32 and 14:51 respectively
O'connor ran 9:30s in HS an ran 14:28 as a junior this year
Obviously Berube is the big time recruit with that 9:08, but he has already run 14:29 and 8:17 as a soph
Mateer has run 8:41
Streb has gone from 4:17 in the 16 to 3:53 in the 15
Seems like improvement to me.
