I agree, this really sucks. I am listening to the race and reading these threads - there is very little to be gained by actually watching the live thread. I just can't understand why all other streaming video has increased dramatically over the past many years, but live marathon coverage still sucks.
Let em hear it!
He's just using this race to get publicity for his Steps Foundation. that's why he was out front in the beginning. His singlet has the STEP words.
Not that I could, but I prefer keeping up with marathons on the message board to actually watching coverage.
Hall is done unless Merga drops out and Cheryuiot dies and Hall has a miracle comeback in the last 5 miles
Merga & Cheruiyot dropping another 4:37 mile (their second in the last 4 miles, per the feed).
30K:
1. Robert Cheruiyot KEN 1:29:58
2. Deriba Merga ETH 1:29:58
3. Tekeste Kebede ETH 1:30:05
4. Mebrahtom Keflezighi USA 1:30:20
5. Moses Kigen Kipkosgei KEN 1:30:26
6. Gilbert Yegon KEN 1:30:53
7. Ryan Hall USA 1:30:55
So Hall is still on Course Record pace and people are saying he's done? Just wait. If the leaders can break the course record by that much, what would you have expected?

Just talked to Terrence Mahon as we watched the race.
1. men on 2:06 mid pace (CR is 2:07:14). one of the lead men has a history of DNFing and tanking the final miles after insane mid-race miles. Mahon pointed out that they're running insane pace.
2. Meb on pace to PR by 2.5 minutes
3. Hall doing what they had planned.
4. Goumri walking and out.
32 minutes and a lot of hills left in this race!
I'm thikning Cheruiyot ftw at this point.
Hall is beating some of the legitimate contenders.
Erkesso is struggling with 20+ minutes left!
awesome.
Splits? Lead? Anyone still out there now that Hall's off the back?
Well, Hall is just sitting on the pace and waiting for everyone to come back to him. Isn't that what people said, were they lying!?
Hall ran the second best last 5 miles in NYC...he is keeping it steady. these guys are hauling and will pay big at 23 miles. Hall just needs to keep chugging 4:50s and he will close the gap.
4:37 19th mile for top 2. Unreal.
people aren't talkign about how fast Meb is running. He's runnign a big PR. Hall is on 207:56 pace at 30k wehreas Meb is still on 2:07:56 pace.
Remember Hall ran 2:09 last year for 3rd or whatever he was.
It appears Goumri has dropped out. I mean the announcers have no idea how hard it is to win one of these things. They are upset that Meb is running a 2 minute PB when he at least made it farther than Goumri.

Now why can't they say this on TV or in live feeds? Oh right, because they are not LetsRun and don't know anything about running. Booyah!
Goumri will never be a champion. I question his desire. What's he doing? Will God help him get back in the race?

Updates on some American men based on 30k splits.
Rohatinsky has apparently dropped out.
At 30k, Lehmkuhle and Vega are on 2:11 pace.
Lucas Meyer is on 2:16:14 pace. Sage canaday 2:17:33 pace.
thanks for a better coverage of events
dude on the bike in the way of the leaders...are you kidding me?
At least that's what I saw on my tiny split screen!
