what is this all about??? 7:16 pace? you cannot even call this a training run.

Well, considering he was thru 10k in under 31:00, I'd say he was out for much more than a training run.
I was not there today, but I know this course like my own backyard. Immediately after the 7 mile mark, you enter a freeway on ramp. The 8 mile mark is at the top of the Hart Bridge - it's a bitch to climb at that stage of the race - and the 9 mile mark is at the bottom of the ramp, basically. You make a 90 degree right turn and finish in front of the stadium. That last 0.3 feels like about a mile long even though it's flat.
If Gabrielson had a problem occur on the way up the bridge and had to stop. Well...he's walkin down, and it's not just a short little walk. There are service vehicles up there, so if he was really hurt, I don't know why he wouldn't have flagged one down. But maybe he just walked it on in?

If you drop out, you can't go backwards over the main street bridge because there is a wall of slower runners coming. Pretty much the only way back over the river to the start area is to keep following the entire course over the Hart bridge. Not sure why he and Asmeron bothered crossing the finish mat though.
43 141 17 Bolota Asmeron, 31, Oakland, CA 15:04 30:46 56:23 56:23 6:04
Bolota actually ran 46:23 - not 56:23 - this was an error in the results
